Hi Guys,

I have a few questions, and I am hoping someone will help me here.

I came to Canada as a protected person (refugee) I was in an abusive relationship with my ex -common law partner which i declare with refugee board. Now that am a permanent resident and with no intention of ever going back to my country. I found my husband who is from another country not my country of origin and I want to sponsor him to live with me.

I was wondering should I state again in my sponsorship application that I was in a common law relationship outside Canada or I should I tick NO. Will it affect my sponsorship application.

Yes- you must declare your past common law relationship in your application. Yes - it will negatively impact your application if you say "no".
