I mailed my spousal sponsorship application via Canada Post XpressPost on February 21, 2017 from Toronto to CPC Mississauga. I also requested a signature upon delivery and was told that the package was guaranteed delivery for February 23, 2017. Surprisingly, it is February 27 and Canada Post has no idea where my package is >:(. The last scan on the package was when it left the post office on February 22, 2017 and it has been stuck "in transit" ever since. No delivery attempts were made and the status never changed to "out for delivery." I called them several times demanding an investigation due to the sensitive nature of the documents but the only answer I get is that I have to wait five (5) days to know if they can locate the package. I wish I had read up on Canada Post before I used their poor service as many people have complained about the same thing happening to them. I just hope my package is not lost and I won't have to do it over again. Has this happened to anyone lately? Does anyone have any advice on what I should do in the meantime?

While that certainly does sound like an unfortunate situation, try not to let it stress you out too much. It doesn't sound like there is much you can do to other than express that you are upset with the service. There isn't much point in stressing about something you can't change.

I hope that your package is found soon, and CIC can get on with processing it for you.

I would suggest you please wait for few more days. Based in my knowledge while you send package to CPC it never tracked properly because no person is there to receive your package. When I sent my passport for visa stamping, I could not track the package but I received my stamped passport back.

I'm so sorry this had happened to you. This is not something very simple to let go of. Did you try calling the management?

And does anyone know what to do in a situation like this other than redoing all the apps.. and collecting all the evidence... !?

I sent via Canada Post with the signature on delivery option and had no issues. I also had the delivery certificate with proof of signature so I don't think you sent to the wrong address.

Thank you for your concern. I did escalate the situation to Canada Post management and I just got the runaround. They gave me no other information other than it left the post office and that they also find it weird that there was no updates in their system. I almost lost it when the manager said that if the package is lost all I would get is $100 compensation and I will probably just have to redo the paperwork. She said it with no sympathy as if it was that simple to fix after I repeatedly explained to her that the package contained highly confidential information for me and my husband. I will just wait in agony until after the 5 days investigation and update you guys on the outcome. The whole situation is so stressful and I am trying not to lose my mind. I am just praying that it is found.

I used canada post with signature as well but never sent mine express. I sent it regular mail delivery.
Sent dec 3rd and they got it dec 7th

I sent mine using Canada post on the 27th and it was delivered today... with a signature. Was supposed to be yesterday, however it was in transit all day and then it changed. I would continue to call their customer service and have them figure it out.

So sorry to hear about this. Using Canada post is really hit and miss but you now know that. Knowing what you have gone through to put this package together I am hoping the best for you.

For all those that had delivery dates exceeding standard dates you can get a refund on mailing costs. Apply to Canada Post, with a receipt.

Sorry to hear that happened to you, that really sucks.

I, too, used Canada Post, and my situation while not as extreme, was also delayed by a day (used most expensive Express option). I chalked it up to holiday mail, but frankly, if I were to go back, I'd probably have used a private courier as well. Read a lot of horror stories on this forum after panicking when they didn't deliver the package on guaranteed delivery date. The plus, I suppose, was that we did end up getting a full refund on our postage, but it was still stressful nonetheless.

Hope Canada Post has found and delivered your package!

Hi,

If you delivered your package through a courier company, you should be able to use the tracking number they give you to view a signature online, if someone received it. The guy who usually signs at the mailroom for CPC-M is a David S.

I used Purolator and it got delivered the next day (was able to see the signature that someone had signed for it in the mailroom).

I thought it was going to be more expensive than Canada Post Xpress, however after reading a few other posts from long past, it seemed to me that it was worth the investment and peace of mind to go with a courier. When they weighed my package at Purolator, they told me it was only going to be $24 for next day delivery from Calgary, AB to Mississauga, ON. I thought it was going to be way more than that as I had over a 100 pages in my application.

I had previously used Canada Post Express mail before and they could not guarantee overnight delivery, and it ended up being longer than they had said. So I had not much faith in them and didn't want to chance it because this is pretty important stuff to me.

Just wanted to let others know that I found that an using an actual courier company was a much better experience than Canada Post Xpress.

Please pass this onto others to avoid headaches and worries that some of you are going through right now!
