Hi,

I am currently residing in Canada as PR with my wife. My sister just graduated (B. Tech, CS) from college and I want her to be here. So what options does she have to come here ? Will my status can help her immigration ?

Thanks

You can't sponsor your sister as you are married. If you are able to sponsor your parents AND your sister is eligible to be included in the application as a dependent, you could indirectly sponsor her.

Otherwise, she will have to make her own application for PR under whichever immigration program she is eligible for, if any.

Agreed. You cannot sponsor her. If she wants to come to Canada then she will have to qualify to immigrate on her own. She will need to get at least one year of full time experience under her belt before she will be able to apply.

She would have to be 18 years old or younger for this to be possible. Given she has finished her bachelors, highly unlikely she is 18 or younger.

Agreed. However, the answer, in the generic form, is generally applicable to anyone else who comes across this thread.

Thanks :-)

I will get her to apply for PR on her own. Given that she's just out of college without any work experience, I believe it will be harder for her. Will my status here, can anyway help her application ?

1. Your status would give her 5 adaptability points of the 67 to qualify to submit an ITA for Express Entry, but without any skilled work experience, it is extremely unlikely that she would qualify.

You can encourage her to apply for Canadian PG course. Given, no work ex, I think this route would be faster for her. I also heard that under PM Justin T. the chances of students getting PR would be bright.
