Thanks
I suggest you do your own research about other things. But for housing and job, better to send a private message to that poster. He is not here often.

The rules regarding what you can and can't import change regularly. It's better not to bring food at all. But if you must, you should check directly with the CBSA web site for the lastest information.

And whatever FOOD you bring you HAVE to declare it ALL of it. (From the CBSA point of view FOOD- is EVERYTHING you could put in your mouth (meat, bread, dried food, beverages)

But as I cm from India via plane I will be landing at pearson airport so the question still persists
In that case, don't bring raw meats, fruits and vegetables. You can also contact the customs by email for a definite answer.

I will be immigrating soon to Canada so i am planning beforehand what to carry. My family of four will be allowed to carry roughly over 200 Kg (about 70 Kg for each member). Delhi-Toronto flight.

As i don't have any assured job there in Canada and by looking at this forum, it seems life is gonna be tough in the first few months. So, i want to carry as much food items as possible there for survival.

I am planning to carry all the dry ration i can (like rice, pulses, cereals, ) each about 40 kg. LOL. ;D
Can i bring in this much??
Ok, since this question is over 2 years old, it would be interesting to know what happened? Did you land? Did you bring all your food?

hargunthind,

I understand you are from India. me too. Unfortunately, your comments are absolutely correct if were coming few year backs. Now, you get every Indian grocery in Canada with affordable and reasonable cost. Indian marketing gone wider in Canada. So dont worry to bring more stuff it would be waste of money and energy.

I thought the same 3 years back and I brought lot of stuff but I have thrown out most of the stuff end of the year. So, No need of thinking more if you ask me.

Everyone Indian Groceries in GTA are much better than what you can get in India. All Brands, Cheaper and best quality.

You can even got Navratan Oil, Himami, Jhandu Panchricht, Dabur Hajmola, chawanprash. There is nothing what you do not get in Canada and also very reasonable.

If you would like to bring anything, bring good clothes, medicine (very costly in canada), Tea and coffee.

Thats it.

Good luck
