Hi,

This is my first topic here. I tried to find some threads similar, but I couldn't find anything that helps me.

I live in Maryland, an hour to DC. I wonder if I can walk-in to DC to apply a temporary entry visa.

- Do they open for walking-in?
I checked in the website, and one page, they said we can apply by mail or online. But, in the Washington DC section, they said we can also apply in person. I called them, but no one answered. It is an automatic answer by the computer, and it keeps telling to check the information in the website.

- If I can, is it faster than submit an application online?

Please, anyone knows?

PS. I am Thai, living here as an au pair. I have a plan to travel to Canada in Aug 9th.

Washington DC doesn't deal with temporary resident visas (TRVs - tourist visas). This office only deals with temporary resident permits (TPRs) - which are a completely different thing. You need a TRV - not TRP. See here for what Washington does and doesn't do:

Los Angeles and New York are the two offices that deal with TRVs. Neither office accepts walk-ins anymore. You can certainly drop your application off in person - but it is faster to apply online.
