I have a question / concerns and thought that this may be the appropriate forum for someone to ease my concerns. As a bit of background to my question (as I don't wish to leave it any information which could my impact the outcome of the visa decision)
I have a PR card and I have had one for 2 years now. However, shortly after recieving my PR card I met my now husband and we married and are settled in the UK. He has a Pakistani passport with a current Tier 2 work permit for the UK, a valid multiple entry US visa and Schengen visa.
My husband applied on May 8th 2013 for a TRV via an online application to London High Commission to visit my parents who are settled in Canada on PR cards. My father wrote an invitation letter and we are due to fly out on 22 June 2013.
The processing times for online applications on the website are listed as 8 working days plus an additional 10 working days for passports from certain countries. I know that Pakistani passports always get a lot of grief, so we expected you know, 18 working days.
That deadline passed last week, we have still not heard anything from the embassy and they haven't asked him for his passport (if his application is approved).
Does anyone have any guesses as to whether this delay is simply due to the fact that visa application volume increases in the summer? Or their own staff have gone on holiday? Or whether as I fear, it does not look likely that my husband will be able to join me on this trip.
If the embassy was going to reject the application (which I don't think that they will because in my opinion we're a very simpel case), would they not have done so already?
We sent the embassy everything they requested in the forms, as well as a copy of my old and new passport (I changed my name), a copy of my PR card, a copy of my Deed Poll, a copy of our marriage license (Nikkah nama), invitation letter and itenary of our flights.
Also, does anyone know if there is anyway of getting in touch with the visa office to find out any information? I don't quite understand how the visa process for Canada can have such a "don't contact us" attitude. Every other visa office manages to keep their applicants updated of the process and status.
