It's now 55 days since I sent my application to sponsor my husband from the UK for Permanent Residency in Canada. I haven't had any communication yet. I was hoping by now to have had a reference number so I can see what progress my application is making. Does anyone know how much longer I'm likely to have to wait for a response?

Thanks,
Lynne

Step 1 (for Outland applications) is currently taking about 90 days - you can track the timing at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-fc.asp

Hopefully the timing won't increase much and you'll hear back soon :)

OhCanadiana,
Do u know approx. when they will have the step 2 updated? They say quarterly, and the last time was updated on January 23rd, so shouldn't it have been updated on April 23rd? I'm just interested to see if the times have gone down, because it just seems like the step 1 approval is going up each week. Hopefully it's not the same for the step 2. Any insight? Are they usually about a month behind on the website update?

Unfortunately, the pages aren't updated that predictably :(. The more detailed statistics are usually available about a quarter behind.

In the meantime, take a look at http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/case-processing-speed-at-visa-offices-step-2-t102206.0.html ... It may serve as inspiration :)

Our application was sent on Februaury 19th, received Februaury 21st. We know this because we had it tracked. We did not received confirmation that they had received it until May 11th. Luckily the sponsorship as I assume was considered straight foward only took two days and as of this morning we have been told ( on the website) that they have received Dom's application in London and that the medical is good to go.

It really is just a waiting game which we need and sit for, luckily ours seems to be proceeding much quicker than I expected, but there really is no rhyme or reason.
