Still waiting... :(

It's great to know that I'm not the only one waiting.
I was already convinced that there must be something wrong with my file. On the CIC homepage it says that the work permit only takes 48 days from inside Canada. I find that rather misleading since it is the LMO which is taking so long. No positive LMO, no work permit... ::)

The wait will get to you for sure. Then once you have the LMO is more waiting on the work permit. When my employer checked with Service Canada between weeks 5-6 we were told the file had been assigned so I cannot imagine why more than two weeks later we're still in limbo. I wish I knew what they were doing and exactly when we would get a response.

Well, both applications for the LMO and the work permit extension have been sent out at the same time. Hence, my work permit application is pending and should be approved/rejected once the LMO decision is made. It's driving me nuts.

Well that's some consolation for you right there. Best of luck and be sure to keep us updated.

Received an email from CIC today. My work permit extension has been refused since it has been pending for 60 days and the LMO has not been processed. I will have to leave Canada as it seems.

That sucks. But why refuse the application? Why not wait on the outcome of LMO application?

Well, that's what they do if the LMO is not processed within 60 days. Usually you would wait for your LMO to be processed and THEN apply for a work permit extension. In my case though, my work permit was about to expire when my employer suddenly decided to offer me a contract extension. In that case, you have to send out both applications at once.

If the LMO is approved at some point down the road could you re-apply for your permit?

They could. But it takes 2 months min. processing time. I will get my CSQ in the end of August, meaning it would take until late October at least.
I can't afford to stay here for 2 months without an income. On top of that, staying at home for 2 months not being able to work would drive me insane.

I understand completely. Best of luck and stay in touch

The management is trying to find a solution. All hope is not lost yet. Fingers crossed!
