waiting for workpermit

Hi I need someone to give me some information I am from England and have been in Halifax nova Scotia for about a year I am here as a visitor for 2 years as my partner has his workpermit and is working. I have got a job as a early year educator and the company have applied for a work permit this has been going on since February of this year and my company hasn't had anything from them does anyone know how long this can take or if I can do anything to speed up the process as I am finding it hard not working and being stuck in doors all day not knowing anyone. Please help thank you.

I am not aware of the scenario where the employer applies for work permit. I know that employers needs to apply for LMO (Labor Market Opinion).

In you case you may be eligible to apply for an open work permit.

Hi thank you bmtoronto sorry I should of made it clear the employer is applying for a lmo I should of made that clear.
