LANDED..........
Wife and Son Landed on Nov 22, 2011.
Hi,

Here is my situation on hand that I would like some advice on.

1. My wife just had her Interview with an IO on May 24 2011, for spousal sponsorship , which I am a Canadian citizen and she is a Vietnamese citizen. The interview went fine, and they requested a Re-medical examination which she has already done and if she gets her VISA. She is Due in mid-September 2011
2. If we decide to have the Child in Vietnam. Would we need to submit anything to Singapore CIC, although the Immigration officer was aware that my wife was pregnant and I’ve also notified Singapore CIC about my wifes pregnancy in April 2011. (they didn't ask for any additional information.)
3. we informed Singapore CIC by Email on April 2011, and during her interview the IO was aware my wife was pregnant and they were talking about the baby. so the question is on #4.
4. Do we need to add the child to her Application or anything like that after giving birth if she received the VISA already. (although the child should be Canadian citizen by birth.)
5. We decided to give birth in Vietnam because it would be cheaper to have the child there instead of Canada because giving birth in Canada is really expensive without any health insurance (which don’t cover if you are pregnant already and go on the insurance plan) and Medical Service Plan doesn’t kick in until after 3 months in Canada.
6. I research that after baby is born you would need birth certificate, then apply for Proof of Canadian Certificate and then Apply For Passport. ( the problem is I will be back in Vietnam on Sept 2011 for my wifes birth. And need to head back in Nov 22 2011 to Canada, so what would be the quickest and fastest steps on doing this so if my WIFE does have her PR (Visa) so I can bring my wife and child over at the same time instead of waiting for 10 to 15months for Proof of Canadian Citizenship for my child)

If you need any other information please let me know.

Thank you for any help you can assist with.

Re: Waiting for PR while wife is pregnant

If you are a citizen by birth or immigration (ie you were born or immigrated to canada) your child born outside of Canada will be a citizen...if you were born outside of canada to Canadian parents any child you have born outside of Canada will not automatically be a citizen (and would have to be added to the PR application)..

Assuming your child will have citizenship rights at birth (and is born outside the country), you will have to get the Childs birth certificate for CIC... They will add the baby to the family info (not PR application), shouldn't delay it much at all, you can be proactive and take it is as soon as you have it...

As far as citizenship... Get the proof of citizenship paperwork prepared as soon as you have the birth paper and passport and submit it... A week or two before you travel, you take the proof you've applied and proof of travel to the Canadian consulate and apply for travel papers/emergency passport.

Thank you Chelley for the quick response.

so if my parents came to Canada (Family Sponsorship i guess by his Brother) in 1983 my dad and mom and my sister and I landed in canada, and my parents became Canadian Citizen in 1987, and my sister and I followed my Dad and became automatic Canadian Citizen, so now i am married to my wife abroad so does that make my Child the First Generation meaning he will become a Canadian Citizen by birth Right?

also, when you said get my childs birth certificate for CIC (which CIC are you refering too) Singapore Visa office or to Canadian Embassy in vietnam?

what i'm doing is, if we dont need to send any additional info to Singapore Visa office, i will be back in vietnam on Aug 31 2011, and my wife should be Due some time in Sept 2011, after the birth, we will do all the paper work to get his vietnam birth certificate then bring that proof and other stuff to Canadian consulate in vietnam and apply for Proof of Citizenship of Canada (what would i need to provide to the Canadian Consulate when i apply for Proof of citizenship that my son is my son?), then if my wife already has a PR (Visa) to go with me to Canada the date i am planning on returning to Canada because of work, then i should be able to Apply for an Emergency Temp Visa for my Kid to go with us. is that correct or is there a Valid step i should do in order to achieve my goal on what i want to do.

my stay in vietnam is from aug 31 2011 to nov 22 2011. that is my itinerary.

if i'm wrong anywhere that needs correction please let me know.

Thank you.

your child should be a canadian citizen by birth right then...

when i say CIC should get the birth certificate, it's whatever office you would be communicating PR information with...

the citizen application can go to any consulate i believe but the PR info probably should be sent to the office that would require it.. not sure if they will transfer between offices, you can check... but the office processing your visa should get a copy of the childs birht paper to include within their records...

hopefully that helps some....
