Depends..mtn_air said:Stupid question maybe...but I suddenly realized I don't know the correct process to get a PR card
Landed in Sault Ste. Marie on August 8. ECAS shows my updated mailing address. I THOUGHT they would simply mail the PR card to me. But now I see that you have to APPLY for a PR card with extra paperwork? What am I missing? I thought this was automatic. Please help straighten me out! ???
You will apply for the PR Cards when you land. You will need to provide an address in Canada for these cards to be delivered to. You cannot provide address in Quebec ( if your application is for English province ). It typically takes approximately 8-16 weeks for the PR Cards to be delivered, so if you are not staying in Canada this long, you may wish not to apply for the PR Cards at your time of landing. You can apply when you enter Canada again, but will need to apply for a travel document tin order to facilitate your return to Canada.
Did you give PR mailing address at the time of landing? Did you fill IM5444E form? If officer asked for mailing address at the time of landing, this will be for PR mailing address, and he must have filled application for you . . . Hope it helps...
