So, I talked to a very nice CIC call centre agent (weird), and he told me the process for PR card is as follows:

1. checking the file (whatever that means) - this takes 18 days as per processing time posted on their website - result is "file closed"
2. technical part - scanning the pictures, checking the quality
3. printing of the card
4. mailing the card

I guess we all get confused because we think it will be mailed after 18 days (or any other processing time posted), but it's not actually like that. He did tell me the last 3 steps should not take longer than 5-10 days, but you never know. Plus then the time it takes for the post to deliver the card (snail mail). He quoted 4-6 week in total to me.

My card is just at the step 2 now :(

Hi all,

Just wanted to post here to try and calm any stressed minds.

My fiance and I landed on the 13th November 2014.
At the time the processing timeline for PR cards was 29 days.

I called CIC in December approx 45 days after landing and was not given much information just that I should call back in 30 days if we had not received our cards.

30 days later I called back and was again told that the cards were being processed and to call back in 30 days. (I was getting stressed at this stage, thinking something was wrong)

We received our PR cards 106 days after landing, it took CIC exactly 100 days to process and print our cards.
This happens to be quite normal from speaking to friends that have gone through the same thing.

Unfortunately that timeline on the website seems to only apply to a small group of people, I estimate that the website timeline applies to 20% of applicants while the other 80% will be waiting a minimum of 6 weeks and maximum of 5 months.

I don't know why it could possibly take that long but it seems CIC like to prolong each and every stage of the Permanent Residency process.

Don't worry the cards will arrive, CIC do things at their own pace and that will never change.

Best of luck :)

Hi guys,

I am wondering whether the PR card status can be checked using the on-line service we were using to check the status of
immigration application. My application status appears as "complete". Should I expect to change to something else when they start processing my PR card??

Thanks in advance

Hi,
usually the PR card status appears at ECAS later on, but not everyone is such lucky (don't know why).

What is the contact number to get PR card status? My family landed on 22nd December, still PR card not received?

Just call the CIC call centre. They are able to track it down for you.

Hi Guys,
Hoping if someone has been through my situation or can help me.
I landed on 23 Jan at Pearson, and the CBSA officer asked me for my mailing/home address where the PRC needs to be sent, I provided him my current home address which is also my mailing address.
After few days , when I logged in to eCAS check my status it showed both my mailing and home address have been changed to the right one which I gave upon landing.
Today after 50+ days when I did not received my PRC I called the CIC call centre the agent told me that my home address is correct (which I gave at landing) but my mailing address is still of my lawyer and that my card has been dispatched on 6th March, which I should have received last week or will receive this week.
Unfortunately my lawyer does not use that address anymore.

1 Who do I believe the website and hope my card will come at the right address?

2 Or I believe the agent and go to the address and speak to the recipient there?

3 he asked me if I want to make my home address as my mailing address offcourse I said yes , but what's the guarantee it will get fixed??

any experts please advise.

regards.

Received the PR card in my hands today :D. And so, this phase of waiting ends.

Hi guys,

Two questions please:

1) I did my landing on 16th/Feb, I provided my address in Canada. However, when I check my ECAS status, my home address is the same Canadian address I provided when I landed, but the mailing address is still as my old address abroad. Does that mean that I will never receive my PR card since my mailing address on the system is an abroad address.

2) If I am not in Canada, is there any problem if I call CIC call center and ask them about my PR card?? Will that affect the process of sending my PR card and they may refuse to send my card to the Canadian address if they knew I am not in Canada??

Any help will be very appreciated
:)

Received our PR cards today too - woohoo!!!

1) It seems that in some cases, CIC has the correct mailing address in their system even though ECAS is not updated with the right one. What you should do is call CIC and ask them what mailing address they have to be sure it will go to the right one.

2) When you call CIC, you don't have to let them know you're not in Canada. As far as I know, they don't explicitly ask you and you shouldn't volunteer the information otherwise (not saying you should lie though if they do ask). You can contact the call center from outside by dialing +1-613-944-4000 and pressing 1 then 1, you'll be transferred to the in-Canada line.

Ecas never got updated for us after landing - it still just shows Complete and has details of our landing. Nothing about PR cards at all.
