Anyone has a timeline of receiving the Travel Document applied in India? How soon can I get it so that I can plan my return trip?

Hey buddy
we are on the same boat. I am planning to travel India by next month.
I haven't got the PR cards yet.
Let me know how to apply for travel document. Can I apply from Canada itself right now (or) shud I be physically present in India to apply?
What is the processing time?

You have to be outside of Canada.

Am assuming we should send passports along with the application for a Travel Document. For this, you need to be in India. Am not sure. I would even be interested to find out applying for it while in Canada.

thanks for the link
do u have any idea about the processing time?

hey guys i wanna apply for Travel document from India too and we have to be present in India for that.
Anyway for the processing time I called VFS and they said minimum 10 business days and maximum can be anything!!

Friends, I have done a lot of research on applying travel doc from India and have learnt from some forum members here that the processing time is around 25-30 days. I am also in touch with one of the forum members who is right now applying for a TD from India. I will update the thread as soon as I hear from her regarding the processing time.

oh no....can't imagine in case if it's delayed.

@lifesucks received PR card on 30-Nov-2013.
After that absolutely there is no progress.

Friends.....anyone received PR card on December first week. Kindly share the timeline.
It would be an eye opener for ppl waiting behind u.

I somehow have a feeling that they stopped processing initial PR cards in Decemeber cuz they have a backlog for renewal PR cards urgent processing. Newly landed immigrants dont have this privilege, so they just decided to transfer us for after Christmas time.
Can you imagine how many existing permanent residents send their urgent processing requests for being with their families on Christmas?
So people, embrase it, we're the second class here. The only way to escape this neverending torture is to endure a little bit more and get the citizenship. According to my friends - the attitude is so much different...
On Monday i will cancel my tickets to Europe as the country where i'm going to refusing to give me visa without seeing canadian PR card, and i will pray MasterCard will reimburse me...
So most likely i will spend my Christmas here.

it's interesting that the eta is still 44days, as it's supposed to be updated weekly!!

Yes, exactly they have stopped processing new PR cards from December.
Not sure when they would resume.

Hopefully they are working on it soon! I will be leaving on December 29.... I landed on Oct 26, CIC call center said my card should be mailed out on Dec 6 when I called two weeks ago. I just called CIC again today and now they said my card will be delayed to Dec 19 to mail out.....

Thanks ceclmo77, Please update us about the process and timeline. Also flying through london to India, does it need a valid canadian visa or work permit? There are several stories about it on internet and am confused.
