Its really frustrating. Called CIC again today and the rep informed that my card is not yet processed. Also I need to wait till July 11th for them to start looking into details. I landed on Apr 2nd and getting pissed off day by day.
Are you going out of the country soon? If not, I think this delay, as long as it's not gonna be forever, might even help me. I mean, I heard the expiration date on the PR card is 5 years after whenever they issued it. So I'm getting a few extra months of valid time on the card while actually being a PR before getting the card. You see what I mean? 8)cecstatchk said:Its really frustrating. Yeah actually a smart way of thinking. I'm going to check the date on mine to see if this actually helps a bit.Yamahar1 said:^^ very smart thinking I must admit ;D
Yeah please do check and let us know. If they just give you 5 years from your time of landing then this delay doesn't help.kushari said:Yeah actually a smart way of thinking. I'm going to check the date on mine to see if this actually helps a bit.
I kind of see your point, but I'm not sure that it's necessarily an advantage? It delays the time that you will have to renew the card, but you're paying for that delay now by not having the card. I guess if you intend to pursue citizenship it doesn't really matter...ZingyDNA said:Are you going out of the country soon? Hi Kushari, kushari said:Not true. You can cross by commercial bus, I've done it twice already while waiting for my PR card. The officer that processed my landing told me it's not immigration that doesn't allow it, it's airlines that don't accept COPR. They have no problem allowing COPR people in the country.
I am not sure how they process these things however, I landed April 3rd and received my PR card on Monday 23rd June.tam_ngo said:Me neither, same story as you I landed on April 2nd and still not have my card. CIC call center ask me to call back after 2 weeks
Yup, I did it twice. It was kind of annoying, but you have to do what you have to do right? I went to Buffalo, NY by bus from Toronto and flew out from there for a wedding. Then I went to New York from Montreal. On the way back from New York, the Border Agent was just surprised that I hadn't received my PR card yet after three months. I told her nope, they're behind and that was all.rawfile said:Hi Kushari,
I was not aware of this. Thanks!
So, I can take a bus to cross the US border with out any problem with my COPR right?
If so, I can change my tickets to US and enter Canada by bus at Niagara..
Good to know. Coz CIC website just mentions about using COPR with private vehicle.kushari said:Yup, I did it twice. It was kind of annoying, but you have to do what you have to do right? Are you living in Toronto too buddy? It seems people who living in Toronto receive PR pretty quick. I'm living in Calgarydinocgeo said:I am not sure how they process these things however, I landed April 3rd and received my PR card on Monday 23rd June.
Well, I'm just saying I'm OK with trading a few months of not having the card now, to get a few more months of PR card validity in the end of the 5 years.LPS said:I kind of see your point, but I'm not sure that it's necessarily an advantage?
