2nd time was an big issue, coming from the Europe to USA had a connection flight. The agent got annoyed, and told me I cannot use my landing document for travel purposes which I didn't actually. I just showed him to find my information in system. I had a US address in the customs forms, and he said he will accept me as tourist, and this day will not count for my residence. (Does he have right to do so? )
Continue asking me when I will officially reside, asked my intention!!! I said when I found a job !!
I wrote before that I believe (because I saw stories posted on this forum) that they can refuse you as a permanent resident if they think you didn't start residing (as the second officer actually did to you, accepting you only as a tourist). I was attacked for writing such a thing, but I strongly suggest to everyone to be very careful with the residency, even if you do fulfill the required number of days. And no, I don't have a source, so you don't have to take my words for granted, try to do some research.

Don't fully understand your second time. Are you from a visa-waiver country? Did you attempt to fly into Canada with just the COPR and passport?
Yeap, I don't need visa for Canada.

No it was the first officer who took my customs form and put 0 on top of it. 2nd officer in secondary actually didn't question anything, put a stamp on my passport with PR written. So I'm confused if that day counted or not. Thanks for the reply.

Today is my 85th calendar day. I called CIC today and they (after questioning quite a few things like have I called before and when had I applied/landed, etc) took my UCI and asked verification questions. Few moments later, he told me that our PR cards have been approved and ready for printing. It was the same situation last week as well.

Thanks guys for your input on traveling without PR card as visa waiver country citizen.

I'm still looking at the option of just flying back as visitor since my travel is short and is highly likely the travel document won't be issued in time, unfortunately. Also, the border agent when I landed told me that the travel document is only for people required to get visa, and as a visa-waiver passport holder I shouldn't have to apply.

I know the correct (and safe) answer is to either enter through US with private vehicle or to get travel document before flying back to Canada. However, I am very curious how airlines and border agents deal with the "flying back to Canada as visitor while waiting for the PR card" in practice. (I am flying Air Canada btw) I don't see how airline can deny boarding even if the COPR isn't valid for travel. I can say I will also be able to enter as a visitor because my PR application is still in process until the PR card is issued technically. I'm just afraid airline would deny boarding just because that's the rule and that's all it matters...

Don't try to explain too much to airline folks. Most of them do not know the immigration rules and the more you tell them, the more confused they might get, the more likely they will refuse you to board the plane. Just say that you are visiting Canada for a short period of time (on the condition that you have a visa-waiver passport) and only explain your case to the custom border officer who would be more well-versed with Canadian immigration policies.

Hi All,

Landed May 11th in Toronto and I am still waiting for my PR card.

I have a trip booked for the end of July, is there anyway I can speed up the process to receive the PR Card in time?

Thanks!

Thanks, that makes sense. I guess my concern is that I will not have a return flight ticket plus I'll be flying with an infant so it could be a bit tricky to tell the airline I'm just "visiting" for a short time. Also, of course I would prefer not having to lie to airline but I guess that's the risk I'm taking without the travel document.

Hello my fellow waiting friends,

Hope this helps

Just called CIC and the agent asked me for landing date (18th April). So I thought she was gonna reject my request to check status of my pr card since it's not 83 days yet.
I was being ready to complain about stupid delay we are facing every week +7 days right? and she just said my card "should be ready" by 10th July and I can expect the card at the end of july with mail processing time...

So I guess 10th July is another big batch date for April fellows? but still what a delay..

Great to hear this. I landed the same day....Best wishes to all of us

let's aim for 100 days guys. This is less frustrating than getting delusional each week about this +7 days bull*censored word*

I hope it doesn't keep on increasing with out a limit. I hope it stays below 100 days at least.

Let's hope......I've been totally pissed off by CIC and CVAC(Shanghai, China) when they told me travel document processing time is around 1 month....

My husband has a 5 day business trip next week...
