I've just called CIC and found out they don't have my Canadian address on file - so they were just silently waiting for my Canadian address all this time. It's strange, because I told my address when landing, and it appeared under "Home address" in ECAS. The mailing address remained unchanged (in U.S.), but I thought they know what they're doing, since so many people had the same situation with only the Home Address updated.
It's a little bit disappointing that the process is not set up well and that in addition to this they don't even notify you if they need anything.
Though, the call service agent was helpful. He explained the situation, asked for my new address and told it will take about 30 days to get the card after this.
Several minutes after the call, the mailing address in ECAS still remains unchanged, but I hope it updates soon.
I guess this proves that everyone who has an old mailing address in ECAS should notify CIC to change it, even if the Home address is correct.
