Hi Guys,

After 2 months of waiting patiently and practicing CIC's usual advice for 'keeping the correspondence to the minimum', i asked CIC about the delay in my case.

They responded in 2 biznes day.

Their response : They need scanned copy of my new passport.

This copy was already sent to them back in Feb this year and I even got a confirmation from CIC about updating my records. Acknowledgement of my new passport is noted on my GCMS report also, since March this year.

No clue if its their new trick to pretend they are working, while in reality they were actually just sitting on my file and my email has prompted them to work on it. In any case, I have again emailed them passport copy. And I'm not sure if this was the reason that my Security hasn't started for the past 2-3 months, even when my medicals were passed long ago.

Actionable Insight For You: If you have been waiting for a long time (read:30days max), it may be a good idea to 'poke' CIC and ask about the progress on your case. Remind them the last request or action that was completed by you. In every email, even if its a response to their email - please have your complete vital info at the bottom of your mail - name, cec file no. ime no, dob, pob and your current address. Perhaps there is some truth when people have said that CIC has forgotten their case. Not sure how that happens.

Hopefully, i get some 'actual' positive response (read:pPR).
InfoSeeker12, Did you receive the response from VO EM5578 by any chance ?

Wow! You are incredibly lucky! I've been waiting 3 months since my final stage of making the RPRF payment. If you got yours then maybe I'll get mine too.

Hi Infoseeker.. Can you please share your timelines... My ecas was updated on 23rd June...
And this is the response which I got from them on 31st July..

Please be advised that your Biodata forma and request for RPRF will be sent to you later, once your application gets finally reviewed by the immigration officer. We will advise you of further steps of processing shortly.

Do you think I should email them again.?

Hi Guys,

My status hasn't changed from "Medical result received" since June 06. I emailed CIC two weeks ago to inquire about my application status but haven't heard so far. :(

Should I email them again? I have no idea why it is taking them so long to respond:(

Mishki & Home3d and anyone else who has the same question in mind...

I guess the basic rule does apply in most cases - keep the correspondence to the minimum.

Simply cuz we dont want CIC to keep updating our status - its better they spend more time on our files.

But in cases where its been 2+ months and in various trackers you see that applicants before and after you have already proceeded (even though keep in mind each case is different!!- so those trackers just give a very raw idea of timelines - nothing concrete) - i guess, an email to CIC in that kind of situation ((may)) help.

But if they have responded to you, no matter its a standard response which never answered your questions, then i guess you may want to give some time before you write again....30 days? Just my opinion.

I am observing more errors from CIC recently. Nothing major, but things that takes time to correct, or takes time to resend etc. For e.g., they sent an applicant's doc to the lawyer, even though the person used the lawyer only when applied for WP application- not PR. Another person's document was not being returned and only when the person emailed them after no. of weeks, CIC responded with 'oh..we had your address wrong'....(really?? CIC, did you just figure that out today?) And another applicant (ME), gets the response that the copy of new passport is not with them..even though its with them.

So if you 'feel' something odd is going on with the progress of your application, then by all means, trust your gut and write today.

All the best guys.

CIC replies to some emails but not others, and there seems to be no exact rule on which email they would reply to. But in general, if your case is not urgent, or your case is within processing time, they might not reply.

Also, put the purpose of your email and your application number in the email title, and include the following information in your email:
1. Surname
2. First name (both as appeared on your passport)
3. Birth date (YYYY-MM-DD)
4. Client ID
5. Application number
6. Type of application.

Keep your email short and straightforward.

In your case, since you applied on Aug 27 and the current posted processing time is 12 months, if you email them again after Aug 27th and state that the standard processing time has passed, you'll have a better chance of getting a reply.

Thank you InfoSeeker12 and cecbear! It makes sense. I will give it another 2-3 more weeks before sending them another email.

Finally after a long wait, I received the PPR today.

Along with passports, biodata form is requested. I have a question in filling out this, seniors can anyone help me out

In the biodata form, Should I only fill in the accompanying family members(for whom the fees was paid) or even the new Canadian born child as well. I have already sent the Birth certificate of my child to CIC and updated the family composition.

Thanks.

Ahhh! Congratulations! I am so happy for you... also, I am getting quite upset over my application taking so damn long! They received my app in February 2012! My medicals were received June 27, 2013 - so, taking your timeline into consideration (medicals received to PPR), I am hopeful that I receive mine within the coming 3-4 weeks!

Have a great weekend and drink some beers to celebrate!
