No no no, you can not get implied status while on IEC and keep working while you wait for a decision.Bholl said:I was on an IEC working holiday visa and was fine on implied status from dec 14 to March 2015 with no issue. You can't get a bridging visa but you can certainly apply for you work permit and remain on implied status until a decision is made. I know this as I JUST went through it all this week after finally receiving my nomination and heading to the border for my permit.
There have been people on this forum and on other forums who in the past thought they had implied status and kept working while they waited for their next WP. Every thing seemed to go fine, it wasn't until at the very end of their PR application that the fact that they worked without a valid WP because they thought they had implied status while waiting for a decision came up and they were denied PR. One person on another forum got all the way to the landing process. It was at the border that they discovered that the person continued to work while they thought they were on implied status but really were not because it is very clear in the IEC information that you can not get implied status to work in Canada while on IEC.
I really hope that you didn't work while you were on "implied status" because even if it seems like it all worked out it may not in the end. It may not come back to bite you until you are about to get PR.
The person issuing you your new WP at the border may not have caught the fact that you were working without a valid WP, their only thought would have been at looking at the documentation to issue you the WP you have now. However, when they issue you PR they will look at everything a lot more in depth and if they see that there is a break in the timeline where you were legally entitled to work in Canada but yet no break in your work history in Canada then you could be in trouble.
I am sure that there have been some people who slip through the cracks and it never ended up being an issue but please do not tell anyone that is on an IEC visa that they will get implied status while waiting for a decision while here on a EIC visa because its not true.
