Hello all:
I am a Canadian in China. My wife is the applicant. She is from Hong Kong (HK).
On January 30, 2019, I received an email from IRCC stating that the COPRs had been sent, by "regular mail" to the address we provided. This address is in Guangzhou; a city in Mainland China.
So the mail needs to travel from HK to our address in Guangzhou.

Since the mail with the COPRs was confirmed by IRCC HK as having been mailed on January 30, I am worried because the package is taking so long; over 5 weeks now.

Has anyone had any experience similar to this?
Any suggestions?

I just called my MP office back in Canada and they told me they could follow up with IRCC on my behalf.

thanks in advance for any help or info!

Why did they send regular mail instead of registered mail for such an important document? HK is very close to Guangzhou and it should not take 5 weeks to deliver. I have a feeling the either the mail is not sent out or it is strayed during the delivery. Please call HKVO to arrange another delivery or you can send them a prepaid courier service envelop.

What is your total timeline for the application? What is your experience with HKVO? My wife's application is also sent to HKVO for further processing. She is from Beijing.

They do it all the time. They send PR cards by regular mail as well. You'd think they wouldn't be here we are.

With Canada/China relations not good at this time it wouldn't surprise me that a ' Snail Mail ' envelope to the mainland disappears.

I would contact HKVO through webform and let them know you haven't received the COPRs at
the address provided since mailed on Jan.30/19. In your message verify the mailing address with postal code
and see if they can resend it using a courier and offer to pay for it.
Let your MP in Canada follow up as well.

This process takes time.
Let them know whats happening and do what they ask.

Thanks all, for your responses. The mail finally showed up after 5 weeks. Pretty amazing! Five weeks to deliver mail from HK to GZ; two cities that are about a 2-3 hour drive apart from each other.
Anyway, thanks again. :)
