I really hope you are right. All this waiting is killing me. Can't make any permanent future plans, always have this thing in the back of my mind, and really at a loss to know why my case is being held up.
Same situation. Can't concentrate on anything literally. Let's hope all the updates will follow in our cases at once.

Hello guys. I am a FSW outlander with a LMIA.
Here is my timeline.ITA: 9 March.
AOR 24 April
Meds passed: 25 April
BG: in progress 27 April
BG: not needed at this time 28 April
Nothing after that.
BG: in progress 22 June and is still in progress.
Can anyone with experience tell me what is happenening with my application at this point? I have heard some say that when the Background goes in progress for the second time, its for PPR.
I am confused.

FSW Outland here, my BG check is in progress since 8th of April. I got additional docs request on 1st of June, after I ordered first set of GCMS notes.
I have ordered 2nd set of GCMS notes and waiting for them.
Does anyone have a clue what might be delaying things?

Not sure if BG turning to 'In Progress' could be related to estimate a timeline to PPR other than the fact that it's apparently the last step in the processing as per the stages mentioned in MyCIC.

For some, it could be the very next day, for others a few days to weeks or a month, while for some like me, it could take months (6 months in my case, so far... my background turned to in progress on Feb. 10, criminality, eligibility and medical are all passed while security is blanked out.

My BGC went into in progress on July 11 and the same day they asked me to submit a settlement plan as I'm living in another province than the nominated one. I submitted that in a week and waiting for my PPR, received GCMS and everything is passed except medicals. A11.2 says review required by officer about "settlement plan" and ready to finalize. My additional medical tests have been submitted by my physician on 8th July but still no reply from IRCC about my medicals...!! Dont know how long I need to wait for PPR...!!

Received GCMS notes which show "Eligibility" as Recommended Passed and A11.2 "Appears Met"

Yup I am there and not just 15 days but actually BG in Progress since 13th Jan 2016 ..which means completing 7 months tomorrow for BG Check ...AOR 26th Aug !!!

Wrote that thing ...not to depress you ...but to set your expectations right ...BG check could take anything form 1 day to 1 year or more !!

Patience is the key ( or I would say the only option :p) here !!

Hi guys. Does anyone know how long it takes till CIC process your FBI check.

They requested it from me in February. I uploaded the confirmation that I did send everything to the states. When I received FBI certificate in July uploaded it with some other documents they were waiting for from me at that time.

My Express entry showing only background check in process. Everything else processed.
Been in process 8 months. Background check in the notes showing that RCMP already processed too. Basically only FBI left.
It has been 2 months since I sent it to CIC. They confirmed that it is received . Just trying to estimate how long it is gonna take them to read it and process.

Please advice if you have had a case like that. Thanks

Its a personal choice. Remember that the GCMS notes will take 30-45 days. Usually as per the existing trend right now, BGC is the last stage in the application process. Until a few weeks ago as soon as the applicant's BGC went in progress, within 1-2 weeks PPR came in. However, now it seems that the wait times have increased at this last step. This is for the Outland applicants.

For the inland applicants, the BGC goes in progress soon after the AoR and remains in progress until the application is closed.

So its your call. I applied for my first set of GCMS notes in January, since there was no movement on my file from October until I applied. I was happy to know that my eligibility had passed. The notes only help you see what has happened on your file and take some corrective action if there are any concerns.

Its all about personal preference. So if you think you want to apply for GCMS notes, go ahead. If you just want to wait, you can do that. And on the brighter side, what if you apply and receive a PPR before you get your notes :p
Hi Legalfalcon,
Thank you that you are sharing your deep knowledge with everybody.
I have a question: For inland applications, you state "the BGC goes in progress soon after the AoR and remains in progress until the application is closed". I am an inland PNP applicant. After I passed the medicals my BGC changed to "in progress", but after a couple of days it turned to "not needed this time". Can you explain this situation? Is it normal?
Thank you very much in advance.
