Hi ..

I have a quick question.

Currently I am in India and have already applied for PR through lawyer.

1. Can I myself apply for GCMS notes as I would like to know progress of my file or lawyer can only request for it.

2. Secondly I found three links to order for GCMS notes. I think you can't use the first one but the other two still can be used if you are outside Canada. Please confirm as I dont want any negative impact on my application.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Yes, you can request for GCMS notes. It is your file and you can do whatever you want. When you apply from outside Canada, you will authorize the company to apply on your behalf, i.e. they will have access to the notes when they are released by CIC. Very similar to you authorizing your lawyer to file on your behalf and have access to your information, but in this case it will be only for the limited purpose of GCMS notes.

atip-aiprp.apps.gc ca Only for people within Canada. However, you can ask someone within Canada to do it for you. This is the cheapest, i guess only $5.

The above two are for people outside Canada. I have seen applicants successfully use both of the above without issues. I personally have used Visa File twice without any issues. You can choose either. Visa file charges $25 for their services, not sure about GCMS NOW.

Thank you in advance for your help.
Hope this helps! And ordering GCMS notes does not impact your file in any way. You file's information on the computer is generated and transmitted to you.

legalfalcon would you sugeest i wait for some more time and then apply for cgms....bg moved to in progress on 6th march but no update yet...
Its a personal choice. Remember that the GCMS notes will take 30-45 days. Usually as per the existing trend right now, BGC is the last stage in the application process. Until a few weeks ago as soon as the applicant's BGC went in progress, within 1-2 weeks PPR came in. However, now it seems that the wait times have increased at this last step. This is for the Outland applicants.

For the inland applicants, the BGC goes in progress soon after the AoR and remains in progress until the application is closed.

So its your call. I applied for my first set of GCMS notes in January, since there was no movement on my file from October until I applied. I was happy to know that my eligibility had passed. The notes only help you see what has happened on your file and take some corrective action if there are any concerns.

Its all about personal preference. So if you think you want to apply for GCMS notes, go ahead. If you just want to wait, you can do that. And on the brighter side, what if you apply and receive a PPR before you get your notes :p

Great insightful post. Thank you for your diligent search efforts LegalFalcon. This has provided much clarity in understanding if how the process works after document submission (assuming the process is still similar to how it was before the Express Entry system).

+1 for you.
Thanks! Happy to help. When I joined the forum, I got a ton of my questions answered through collective wisdom and experience. Just passing it on and adding to the cause.

You're most welcome. Just inferring from your notes posted above RE: Pre EE process. Is it inferring too much to.suggest that once BG goes from 'In Progress' to 'Not Needed', and they haven't asked for additional information that all documents submitted are ok? Also, the big wait is for Security and Criminality clearance.

Or is this just hopeful thinking?

CIC has slowed down and he 2-3 days of PPR seem to be over. But, don't worry, very soon the PPR will be on its way! Have patience and be optimistic, and stay tuned on the threads you are following.
Not sure why the trend changed suddenly that too when our chance finally came but apparently it seems now now there are too many people in September and October group whose BG status has changed all of sudden in last week or so & I just hope that it is a sign of a ppr downpour in the coming week!

If you are a PNP, then things go fast, but if you are FSW, then the new trend is being stuck in BGC in progress. For how long, no idea! I hope the wait is not too long. I am already at 6 months and 2 weeks now.

Hi, this is surprising. I always thought that the CIC processing priority list is as follows:

1) FSW Applicants (Outland)
2) CEC Applicants
3) PNP Applicants
4) FSW (Applicants (Inland)

The reason I thought that FSW (Outland) Applicants were first on the list is because the VO in the foreign country has less applicants to process than the Canadian VO in Ottawa.

I could be wrong though.

You could be right, but this is the trend as of now. Not sure how long it will be. As per the recent trends the priority is as follows:

1. CEC
2. PNP
3. FSW (Inland)
4. FSW (Outland)
