W1 Worker Visa

Hi all,

My husband's organization processed Canada W1 worker visa for him and myself as his dependent . So, we both have same category of visa.
Can I work on this visa, or I would need a separate WP as I am dependent?

A visa doesn't entitle you to work (regardless of the category), for this you need a Work Permit. Each person needs its own Work Permit.

Hi there. I have w1 visa with a job offer. I shall enter in Canada within short period of time. My question is - can I drive uber in weekends or after completing 8 hours with my employer ? Can I earn in any way side by side working with my empolyer ? Appreciate a quick response/answer.

No - you can't. You can only work for the employer who has given you the job offer.

My company sponsered me to canada and i have work permit w-1, in my work permit its written that i can't work with any other employer but can i drive uber? As uber is self employed?

No. TRV is for basic travel or tourism purposes. W1 is for temporary workers. Both only exist as a travel pathway for visa-applicable nationalities and would need to be accompanied by a work or residence permit.

In the US, Australia, the UK and elsewhere a visa is what allows you to both arrive and work in the country. Canada doesn't work that way.
