Hello guys I want to go back to UK because I have British resident card and cbsa is holding my passport because I overstayed. Someone told me cbsa will not let you go and it will take 8 or 9 months to go back is it true? I want to go back to UK. In few months to visit my kids.

You need to contact CBSA to arrange pick-up of your passport at the airport. CBSA will verify you get on the plane. It will not take 8-9 months. Canada is very happy when people who are overstaying want to leave. You should be leaving ASAP not in a few months if you already have a removal order.
No they won’t return it prior to your departure. They’ll hand it over once you are in the plane. You can book your own ticket without your passport.
Yes you can book your own ticket. You actually have to if you don't have a removal order and if the government pays for the ticket you'll need to reimburse the government if you ever want to renter Canada again so it usually is less expensive to book your own tickets. CBSA will meet you with your passport at the airport and will allow you to check in, go through security, etc. As previously noted they will only give you your passport when you are boarding the plane because some people have taken their passport and left their airport. CBSA will be happy to arrange this you just need to call their local office.
Unless you get your PR it would not be advisable to leave Canada because you may not be able to get back. How long have you been in Canada as a visitor? Most do not have their passport confiscated unless they have overstayed for a long time or do something that puts them on CBSA's radar.
