either that, or it's an unusual relationship, or there are dependent children (from a different partner), or some forms are missing, or they don't have enough evidence, or the medicals have expired, or there are extensive background checks to be done ( because of army background for example, or some countries with a war history), or... etc! the list is very long, and there are plenty of reasons why some files take longer than others. Just trust that you have put together the best application possible, and it'll go well!

Hey guys nairobi changed from 31to 29 months

Islamabad went up from 26 to 28 :( . It is sad to see that in country like Canada they doing all there possible to increase time and put people in misery instead of reducing to help the couple a part. And then we talk about human rights in this and that country been violated bla bla bla. CIC what do you call this ?

London is 9. I don't recall what it was previously.

Every VO I know the times for increased by a month. I don't think Islamabad is being targeted. Even the USA went up a month. So did Pretoria (Africa).

I think it's one of two things: 1) CIC cut employees; 2) The new barcode system isn't as awesome as they hoped or they aren't able to use it properly yet.

That's just speculation. However, I do sympathize with you. 28 months is a really long time. I wish it was much faster for everyone.

I think London was 9 before too. I remember when I started back last June it was 8, then it got updated to 9 at some point... At least it has stayed the same. Sounds like too many VO's times are increasing :(

I also want to add to the speculations. I think the new 2 year rule to new applications has slowed them down. Do they need to get familiar with new laws now? I don't know what the f is going on. while I'm trying to understand CIC I can't help but feeling bitter about all this. I'm grateful that I have a job and I can travel back and forth but wtf! The process should go forward and not backwards. I do really want to trust the system but the more I see this the more I doubt everything in this process. ???

I blame people that complain about marriage fraud. Do NOT blame CIC.

now CIC has to check every little detail on applicants relationships, thus increasing processing times.

Definitely very true. Even at VOs that don't have a lot of fraud, they probably have to follow CIC wide rules to be extra careful.

Although I suspect if we go to their local mini golf putt putt course, we'll find the answer :P

LOL.

Honestly, it's not really the CIC employees. They are severely understaffed in various VOs.

I remember a long time ago someone posted a link with links that listed the number of employees at each VO, and London's was something atrocious like ... five immigration officers. Don't exactly remember where I saw it or the numbers, but it was ridiculous.
