I have a visitors visa to Canada from 16july2014 and expires on the 23jan2015. I was suppose to fly of during august but due to family problems I had to push my date forward. And now I'm planning on flying early November. I was planning on visiting my aunt her daughter who's about to give birth :) My original plan was to visit for 6months and than to extend my stay for another 3months if I liked the placed & decided to create a life there. I was hoping to either find employment or education. 9months would have given me enough time to make a decision n to do my paper work. But with the way things have turned out I don't have enough time. If I leave in nov I only have 4 months (dec, jan than my extension, Feb & march). Which isn't enough time.
Is there anyway that I can extend my visa up to a year or another 6months. I'm a single 22yr girl with a level 5 diploma in business. Is that qualification any use in Canada? I know I can stay behind if I was offered a job letter but 4months is just so short and I don't know if diploma is of any use there ?

Also if I decide not to use my visa this time around . Will it have a negative affect if I try to apply for a visitors visa next time?

Im so hopeless right now...I have so much to lose. If things don't work out by march I have to be back home early April or I lose my job. I have so much lose on both sides.

Hi LolThisSummer,

The whole of intention of Canada providing you with the Visitor Visa is for your visit and not to engage in employment or education. Pls don't try to abuse the TRV. If you have the intention of starting a new life in Canada, then follow the appropriate Visa type. As far as your diploma is concerned, you can use "Foreign Qualification Evaluation and Recognition in Canada" to have your credentials evaluated per the Canadian standards.

I would also recommend not to extend your visa this time assuming that you visit Canada in Nov. If you visit Canada in Nov, then make sure you return to your home country by Jan 2015. By this way you will have clean record and then you can replay for another visitor visa.

There will no negative impact ,if you don;t use you current visitor Visa if you apply next time. If you need hope, then avoid using shortcut.. sorry..
