My husband and I applied for a visitors visa but it was denied because of assets and they are not satisfied that we will leave Canada. We gave them affidavits and our tickets is already booked. We are just going to visit my dad. What more can we do? Can someone please help?

Hello, Coreene! How many weeks did you request and how much money you have in your account when you and your husband applied? :)

The experienced people here can give you better advice if you will post the documents you submitted.

We booked our tickets from 16 December to 29 December. How much money do we need because my father is hosting us there in Canada and they did write a invitations letter and said that they are hosting us. My step brother got his visa last year and he had the same documents in his application that we had.

3months bankstatements of my husband
3months payslip for both of us
Affidavits
Flight tickets that we booked

People here always advise not to book tickets yet until visa is issued. Booked tickets are not a guarantee that TRV application will be approved.

There is no hard and fast rule as to how much money should be in the bank account but people here always say 1000CAD per week per person after accommodation.

Do you have kids? I asked because you are going to travel with your husband. Your kids will be your strong ties here. :)

Provide a cover letter explaining your circumstances here in Manila and why there is a need for you and your husband to go back to the Philippines.

Also Leave Forms, travel history (if you have), if you own a house or car provide the same too as this will be considered as assets.

Attached your father's citizenship cards and passports for identification purposes. :)

I understand that and thank you for your replies. But what I dont understand is that my step brother dont have assets and he gave exactly the same documents as we did. Is there something else that we are missing?

How much money in your husband's bank account? Did CIC only mention assets as the reason for refusal?

I think this only means that what have worked for your step brother last year, did not work for you and your husband.

As Khris implied, it's a case-to-case basis. Whatever worked for your step-brother may not necessarily work for you. There may be differences in age, circumstances, etc. that the visa officer considered as a whole.

Letter of Employment
Invitation Letter

Do you have any other assets aside from your bank accounts? Properties, land, car, etc.? How did you submit? Online or by paper?

Even if you are staying with your dad, you have to show enough money to support your trip as if you are not staying with him.

Affidavits and booked tickets are useless. This may work for visas for other countries, but not Canada.
