Hi everyone, what do you think?
I applied for young professional visa, but I have to wait about 6 more weeks for final result.
I don't want to wait so long, I've already booked the ticket.
Probably I will arrive to Canada without answer about my work permit, therefore I must come as a turist have fun and wait.
What do you think, immigration officer, will be ok with this? Should they let me enter to Canada ?
After decision, how can I change my status from tourist into WP ? Is it enough just to go on the border with USA ?

shiii wrong category, sorry

You have to apply for a TRV before you fly over unless you come from a country that doesn't require a visa and will need an eta.

Among the challenges you may have you could be if asked the purpose of your initial visit if say 6 weeks or more as a tourist and whether you have a return ticket. Saying you have a YP application in process will not help and in fact not info you should necessarily volunteer to CBSA.

Once you get your YP the next challenge would be you would need to flagpole at the US/Canada border and meet the travel insurance for full term and proof of funds. Given you would already be travelling showing full term travel insurance can be tricky so need to investigate that else your permit could be shorter than expected.

As Canuck78 said if you are visa exempt you will need an ETA to travel to Canada given you are planning to travel in advance of the YP being granted which would have included an ETA. If not visa exempt which I guess might be unusual for the IEC/YP program you will need an actual visit visa/TRV.

So when they gonna ask me what is my purpose and for how long I will stay... I shouldn't mention about YP at all??
Hmmm... I'm coming to Canada and I want to relax, meet my old friends, and in six weeks I will leave the country (I haven't bought return ticket but I have enough money)...

This is not a lie but sounds weird and if they somehow can check I've applied for WP then I have a big problem

what would be your answer to CBSA?
