Hi .. i am a PR holder and is planning to go Canada again with my 6 month old baby. My husband will be unable to join me soon due to his job commitment. I need someone to help me with my baby as I will be joining job there. So my sister in law(brother’s wife) is planning to accompany me along with her 3 yr old daughter and would stay for couple of months(till my husband joins back).
Heard from an ageny that CIC is not processing visitor visa now and also to apply for sister in law will be tough.
I need suggestion on the following points:
1) is visitor visa for my sil n her daughter possible
2) if yes , can I sponsor them from here( they would travel along with me)
3) Should i apply there visa myself through cic portal or should approach to some agency?
PS: 1) I will be applying from India
2)I am aware that visitor visa takes more time now due to Covid

1. Your SIL and her daughter do not meet the travel restrictions. If your husband was in Canada he could apply for your sister only not her child.
2. They can apply but wait times are around 250 days and biometrics are not available in India. Travel restrictions are unlikely to change in the immediate future so that is your major issue. Would suggest looking for daycare options.
3. Does your child have a TRV because that isn’t guaranteed. Do you meet your RO because you need to meet your RO to qualify to sponsor your child. Your child May not qualify tor medical care depending on the province so you may need to purchase emergency medical insurance and pay for routine care.

TRV is a tourist visa. Your sister in law will need to get a TRV if she wants to come with you to Canada as a visitor. Current TRV processing times are around 280 days. If your child is not a PR, then your child will need a TRV as well to come to Canada.

RO is residency obligation. As a PR, to meet the residency obligation, you need to live in Canada for 2 out of every 5 rolling years.

To sponsor your husband you must be living in Canada and be compliant with your PR. When did you receive PR and how much time have you spent in Canada since then?

Hi All,

My PR application is in process. My sibling ( sister) is a PR in Canada. IF I apply for a visitors visa, will it have any effect on my PR process?
Also, in order to apply for the authorization letter, they are asking for a UCI number? Should I share the one from my PR application or leave it blank.
Please help.
