I want to clarify a few things - I have a valid eTA and OWP but my stamp in my passport (was valid for 6 months) expired. Does OWP allow me to stay legally in Canada for the time indicated in the document with an expired stamp in my passport that I got on the day of my entry to Canada? Do I have to re-new the stamp in my passport?

The OWP grants you status.

Hi, has anyone with OWP been able to get a new phone with just their permit. I wanted to get a new phone, since I need to get a number in canada. I was wondering if those deals that cost 70/80 dollars per month for connection plus the phone of choice would be available to me. I just have a OWP and no QC driving license or any other QC id. Is there a way of getting those phone deals with what I have or will I have to stick to prepaid connections?

Good day.
I will visit canada this coming december 2018, using my approved multiple entry TRV and
I will stay on my fiance’s apartment in ontario. If if i will be amazed and enjoy canada, can I apply for a open work permit inside canada?

Thanks

OWPs are only issued in very specific circumstances. On what grounds do you think you will qualify?

Actually I do not have any idea how can I qualify, do you have any reference how?

By the way, I have a friend in ontario who is a businessman that can hire me in his construction business as a 3D modeler or interior designer.

But in my current sitation here in the Philippines, I have my own construction firm here. I want to move there because I can’t take anymore the Long Distant relationship so that’s why I need to go there.

From what you've said, you don't qualify.

In order to hire you, your friend would need a positive LMIA. The LMIA process has very strict requirements, takes many months to process and costs $1000. Do not count on this happening.

What is your partner's status in Canada?

I think the construction company has LMIA, they should give me an invitation letter to work with them? Is that a fastest way?

My partner’s status is a permanent residence since this june 2018, but we are not yet married.

If the company has a positive LMIA and if you have the necessary experience/education, you could apply for a work permit. Note that you would have to apply to an office outside of Canada and applying while in Canada as a visitor lowers your chances of approval.

You should focus on getting married and applying for sponsorship.

It doesn't matter if your TRV says visitor. All that matters is that it is valid.
Hi @canuck_in_uk ,
I was looking for an answer towards this for a long time and you answered it. Is this true for an inland spousal sponsorship application too?

Sponsor is PR
Sponsored person is a visitor with a multiple entry visa and receives her OWP later.
Could she leave Canada for a 4 week visit with the spouse and gain re-entry on the multiple entry "visitor" visa while the remainder of the application is in process?

I am aware that everything depends on the officer at POE. But my question is does the receipt of an OWP require the person to apply for a new TRV from within Canada that says category as "Worker" or the existing multiple entry valid counter foil with "visitor" status will work for re-entry along with valid OWP.

Also, could you point out whether this is mentioned on the IRCC website as a person on a whatsapp group is giving this advice to people that a new TRV is needed as the person's status has changed from visitor to worker aftee receiving an OWP.

Thank you in advance for sharing your experience!

A TRV is a TRV. It doesn't matter if it says visitor, student or worker; all that matters is that it is valid. There is no link to the IRCC website stating this, just as there is no link stating that people need to apply for a new TRV when their status changes.

Tell the person in the Whatsapp group to quote IRPA or even the IRCC website to support their claim. They won't be able to because they are wrong.

Aside from that, a person applying for inland sponsorship should not leave Canada for 4 weeks mid process.

Thank you for the prompt reply! Really helps! Does 2 weeks sound a reasonable time for a visit? for both the sponsor and sponsored person?

It's better than 4 weeks. Note that there is no guarantee of re-entry, so no matter the length of time, that risk is there.

Hi gta88,

I am having a similar situation, we are planning for a 10 day vacation to India. Were you able to reenter with multiple entry visitor visa and OWP?

TIA
