we are trying to figure out how to get my US husband to Canada, yet still let him travel back to the US 3-4 times a year to see family.

I am a born Canadian citizen with PR in the USA (through marriage)
My husband is a born citizen of the USA.
We have been married 5 years, living together for 4.

Should he apply inland and a visitor visa?

Should he apply inland and a visitor visa?

He doesn't need a visitor visa since he's American. He can stay minimum 6 months here. I assume you haven't applied for his PR yet. If he applies inland, he can also submit a Open Work Permit application along with the spousal sponsorship application. That way he can work in Canada while waiting for his PR. But the waiting time to process for spousal sponsorship is longer inland then applying outland.

Do you mean a max of 6 months (in canada)? What do we do when the 6 months runs out?
