Hello Sir/Mam,

I am an Indian citizen, living in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA on H4 visa with my husband, who is on H1B visa. Also My sister lives in Alberta, Canada with his husband, both are having PR. The matter is:

My single parent, my mother lives in India alone. She already has valid USA visitor visa for 10 years with multiple entry till Oct 2017. She also had visited USA in past. Now we are planning to call her USA and Canada both to visit. USA visit is not an issue but she doesn't have Canada visitor visa. Our query and confusion are:

1. If we plan to apply for her Canadian Visitor Visa in India, does she need to go to Canadian Embassy in person to get visa? or she can get it at home? fyi. She is old and can't go alone.

2. Should we apply her Canadian Visitor visa from India or USA? fyi, there is no family/friend to support her for this process in India. And we don't know how to apply for it from USA. I have visited many websites, which explain about how to apply for Canadian Visitor visa but did not get it thoroughly.

3. What is the different between Visitor visa and Super Visa? Kindly clarify. Which one would be better here for my mother to apply?

4. As my sister is having Canadian PR, are there any chances for my mother to get PR for her too?

Kindly direct me for the above queries, so that we can have some idea about how to proceed. Your suggestions in this regards would be great help to us.

Thank you. :)

Regards,
Kinz

Hi,

1. If we plan to apply for her Canadian Visitor Visa in India, does she need to go to Canadian Embassy in person to get visa? or she can get it at home? fyi. She is old and can't go alone.

You can either apply online, or else you can prepare the visa application as a paper package and post it to your mother to submit it at the Visa Application Centre (VAC) nearest to her

2. Should we apply her Canadian Visitor visa from India or USA? fyi, there is no family/friend to support her for this process in India. And we don't know how to apply for it from USA. I have visited many websites, which explain about how to apply for Canadian Visitor visa but did not get it thoroughly.

It would be better to apply from the country of residence viz. India

3. What is the different between Visitor visa and Super Visa? Kindly clarify. Which one would be better here for my mother to apply?

Visitor Visa (Temporary Resident Visa ie TRV) is for short stays (6 months or less) whereas a Super Visa would allow your mother to visit for longer duration ie up to 2 years without renewing her status. In both cases, your mother will have to demonstrate ties to her home country (family ties, property/land ownership, etc)

Information on TRV: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5256ETOC.asp
For Super Visa: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/supervisa.asp

If your mother has visited the US in the last 10 years then she may be eligible for CAN+ (the application is similar to visitor visa but needs fewer documents): www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=875&t=16

4. As my sister is having Canadian PR, are there any chances for my mother to get PR for her too?
Information for sponsoring a parent: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/sponsor-parents.asp

Super Visa is a quicker/easier way for your mother to visit Canada compared to the processing time/number of applications accepted each year for PR

Hope this helps. All the best :)
