Visitor Visa vs. Sponsorship

I posted questions on another thread awaiting clarification. In the meantime, I'll post here.

If my husband gets declined on a visitor visa (if in fact he/we start there) and get declined, what are restrictions, waits, demerits etc to proceed to my sponsoring him?

You can sponsor him immediately - no impact.

Thanks. Sounds like valid to try visa first so he can at least visit here and if not, go straight to sponsorship and accept a year undertaking.

I have not really seen much on applying for a visitor visa while sponsorship in progress; if that is even possible?
