Is a visitor visa holder can apply for a work permit while inside Canada? After having an LMO, is it possible to submit the application online to LA or NY while inside Canada on a visitor's visa? Any enlightenment is highly appreciated.. thank you.

Unless you are a US citizen, or admitted legally to the US, or from Bermuda, St. Pierre et Miquelon, you CANT apply to NY or LA for a work permit, only study permits from Canada. So with an LMO you have to apply to the office in the country of your normal residence. If you don't require a medical, you can apply at a Border office after flagpoling.

This is really a sad news....that just recently a non-US residents could not lodge anymore their application to the NYC or LA office for a work permit.... Anyway, what do you mean.. if my job to be doesnt require for medical i am allowed to or i could get a work permit just by flagpoling at the border even without returning to my home of residence? I am quite confused... thank you.

1. Yes. You go to a land Border Crossing, go to the US office, tell them that you are returning to Canada to get a work permit. They will issue a an administrative rejection, you return to the Canadian side and apply for your work permit. This only works if you don't require a medical. If you are citizen/resident of the following countries http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/medical/medexams-temp.asp

Hii PMM. I am waiting for my LMO approval as caregiver!
If I got the approval, I have to apply my work permit at my country of normal residence?
Someone just told me that I can apply at either LA or nYC office.
Could you please enlighten e about this?

Hi..i need your help..Hello
I just have a question..I came to canada as a tourist..Im holding a multiple entry to canada..while here i got a job in saskatchewan..I already have LMO and my working visa will now be processed..the consultant agency said they will file my work permit in US-NY and it will take 2 months to process..so all my requirements including my passport is already surrendered to the consultant agency for processing..now i can stay in canada until june 25, 2013..the agency said in case the work permit will not be finish in 2 months i have to apply for stay extension 30 days from the date of expiration of my stay..can anyone help me where to start on that? What forms? Should i write also a formal letter stating that my working permit is already on process and that i surrendered my passport for processing? Or any idea how? Help..i just want to know now so i will know what to do in May just incase my work permit is not out yet..

Thank you..
Vanessa

Follow the links (you may need a copy of the bio page and entry to Canada page from your passport).

hi there...i'm good, thanks for asking...anyway, what i mean about negative is that one could not apply under the Live-in Caregiver Program while in Canada, you have to go back to the country of residence...
