Hi everyone!
Anyone applied for work permit (tfw) inside Canada under public policy?

Please share your timeline.

Hair stylist with a provincial nomination and a letter for the province asking IRCC to give me a work permit urgently. IRCC are grossly underestimating their lead times.

Yeah! I am interested in this topic. My brother is here with a 10 years TRV. He is just two weeks old in Canada, and want to work if given Work Permit.
Can he apply for Open Work Permit under the Public Policy without a Job offer / LMIA?

Open work permit for him absolutely not, only he can apply close work permit if he get job offer with LMIA.

No - he can't. That's not how the public policy works.

He needs a job offer and approved LMIA. He can then apply for a closed work permit tied to that specific employer. Make sure the job offer is related to his past work experience / education.

As said already NO. If he gets a LMIA and then applies for closed work permit, he cannot work until he has the work permit. So plan 8-9 months (or more) for whole process with no income.

What if the employer decided to cancel the LMIA while closed work permit is on process because process is way too long? Can they do that?

Just thinking about the worst case scenario.

The employer can certainly decide the job is no longer needed.

In that case you would need to find a new employer willing to give you a job offer and approved LMIA so that you can apply for a new closed work permit. Even if the original work permit is issued, you won't be able to use it to work for a different employer.

If LMIA is cancelled then work permit is cancelled as permit is tied to the job.
