Just curious, why can't you use your h1b to come in?
If you return in H1B status (assuming your Visa and petition are still valid, not revoked), you have to actually work for the H1B petitioning employer in the US. Whereas a B1/B2 Visa is for tourism or business meetings etc.

Hi @greencard14
Am wondering if you could provide a follow up if you appeared for your interview.

Similar to other commenters on the thread, I was in the States on H1B (expiration 9/19). Landed in Canada as PR (2/18).
Working for same parent company in States, but payroll is running in Canada.

I have my interview scheduled for later this month (B1/B2), and would appreciate any input.

Thanks
So I did appear for my interview this past week

To follow up, I had my interview earlier this week. My B1/B2 was approved.
A brief background - I was in the States for over 10 years. F1 --> H1B.
I moved to Canada and applied for B1/B2 after 5 months.
During the interview, the officer asked me questions similar to the ones from the DS-160.
- Where did I go to university?
- Highest level of education?
- If I had any family in the States
- Name of company that sponsored H1B
- If I was working for same company in Canada (Yes in my case)
- Asked if I was here in Canada for a year to go back to US (since it resets the H1B clock and gives another 6 years) - (not my plan)

At the end officer approved the application.
Hope this helps! Good Luck to all!

Thanks for sharing. I assume you have approved I-140. Did you answer the 'has an immigrant petition ever been filed for you' question as yes?
