Hi there,

I would like to invite my parents from Iran to Canada during the summer months this year.(visitor visa under 6 months) I had a few questions that I would highly appreciate if someone could answer.

1. I am typing out the application for them, is it okay if the MyCIC account is under my name? If it is okay, does that mean that I have to select yes for "are you giving someone access to your application?"

2. One of the documents that I must provide is Use of a family member representative for online applications. In my case, is the representative me? If I am, is that the only form that I must fill out?

3. Roughly how long does it take for my application to get processed and approved? I checked the estimation link provided and it says 126 days...? Are the estimates correct? I was hoping for my parents to come to visit around July.

Thank you for your time and help!

For higher chances of TRV approval, your parents should indicate a stay of max. 3-4 weeks.

They would need to create their own online account. Your dad can be the principal applicant.

2. One of the documents that I must provide is Use of a family member representative for online applications. In my case, is the representative me? If I am, is that the only form that I must fill out?
You would need to submit IMM5476 as their authorized representative.

The estimates published on the IRCC website are just that - estimates. Actual processing could take much longer/or even faster depending on the individual specifics + whether or not background checks will be done

Hi there! Thank you so much for the response; it really means alot. I have not seen my parents in over 20 years, so i am really worrying about this application. I have another question, then what is the difference between the representative form (IMM5476) and the IMM5713? It says it is required that I hand in that form but not the one you mentioned. Thank you once again

You're most welcome.

If you need any help/clarifications then do post them here.

It's not IMM5713 because you are not applying for a TRV along with your parents

oh , i understand now. Also, for the question regarding "do you depend on someone for financial support" I will be providing for my parents when they come to Canada, but I do not give them money regularly to pay for their expenses when they are at home. In this case then, would i say yes or no to the question?

If I need to indicate no, in the invitation letter should I include my income and all that to prove that I can support them when they come to Canada?

They need to show reasonable funds of their own for the visit. Your finances are secondary.

Answer: No

Yes, you can. You can also submit your NOA + your bank statement (not mandatory, but it would help)

Hi again,
sorry for all these questions.

So i was using the application processing time tool...As i am the representative of my parents and am filling out their forms from Canada, the first question that is asked is "what are you applying for?" (visiting), the second question is which temporary residence application" (Visitor visa from outside of Canada) then the final question is "where are you applying from" for this question do I need to put Canada or do i need to indicate Iran...? the process times if I put Canada are roughly 7 days and if I put iran then its 134 days...? I am very confused here
