Hello there !!

My wife completed her masters last year and is now working in Toronto with a work visa. The convocation of her degree is due in June and i want to attend the convocation with her. I will be applying for a visitor visa in April-May. Can you please help me with all the required documents which she should send from canada and which i should arrange here.

I had applied for a visitor visa, just after she got her study visa and which was refused. There has been no major change in my travel history or my financial circumstances in last 1.5 years (time since my last visa was refused). I am still working in the same company here in India.

The only difference is that she has completed her masters and is working full time.

Does the "attend convocation thing" make any change to my application.

Besides i have relatives and friends who are citizens in Canada. Should i arrange some letter from them stating that my living expenses could be covered by them ?

I am really confused and eager to attend the convocation.. Please help

Hi,

You must demonstrate convincing reasons to return/strong ties to India. However, with your wife in Canada, your ties will appear stronger to Canada than to India. Hence, the refusal.

You could include
Employment (letter, pay stubs, time off work letter, etc) + Bank Statements + Income Tax Returns for the last two years + Financial Investments (PF, PPF, Gratuity, shares, FDs, etc) + Family ties in India (for eg: dependent parents) + Property, etc etc + Detailed Itinerary for your visit with Day-by-day expense estimates (maybe to do some sightseeing, and not just for the convocation)

From your wife
Invitation Letter, Pay Stubs, Bank statements, T4, NOA, Residence Status in Canada, Convocation details, etc

If there's no significant change to your circumstances then your chances for a TRV are slim. You can apply again nevertheless. Take the time to prepare a strong application

All the best :)

Hi,

Considering the glim chances of success of a visitor visa, should i consider applying in some other category?

Should i apply for an open work permit? what are the chances of success in it as compared to a visitor visa. we have already applied for the pnp but it will take time till the federal pr is approved.

under what category would an open work permit visa fall. Can you help me with the required link.

Thanks
