visitor visa taking way too much time

Hi, i cant express my level of frustration and distress. i applied for visitors visa on july 13 2016 and was told that it would take not more than 33 days for it to process. more than 45 days have passed and they are still holding my passport. i am 22 years old. my family stays in canada whome i havnt seen in 15 months.. And i have to resume work from Oct. I have sent them an E-mail and also a letter but havnt gotten any revert on that. Please anyone? can you tell me whats the right way to go about it?
 
Unfortunately there's not much you can do but wait. You can try emailing your visa office to request status - but this won't expedite processing.

I'm not sure who told you that it would take a maximum of 33 days to process - unfortunately this was bad information. If you're referring to the posted processing times on the CIC web site, these are estimates - not maximums. Actual processing times vary from application to application and it's quite possible for processing to take several months.
 
I applied on 20 July, the CIC mentioning 9 days as processing time, so far 42 and no news and they are also holding my passport since then.
 
I submitted a change in status from pgwp to visitor. . It took over 2 months. CIC contact centre assure me it was approved but has to be sending email to io. Finally got a 3 months visitor record in the mail.
 
my wife and i applied from Nigeria since may 12th and have not received any information ,
 
I have submitted paper application at Ahmadabad on 19 Jul, 2016 from den status processing at Bangalore office.

When we can get the reply any tentative processing time.

Also, my travel date also passed which I have mentioned.

Any feedback appreciated.
 
are you guys applying online or through the visa office? I am planing to apply online for my parents, is this is the one taking long time?!!

Did you contact them? What did they say? I applied June 12 online and still waiting, was told background checks!!

even paper applications used to process faster in 15 days at Bangalore before
