Hello all,

I figured I would start this thread to track timelines/status of people who have a PR and who have applied for TRV for their spouses and have already submitted their biometrics.

TRV Application Submitted: July 1 (Spouse lives in India)
Biometrics Request Received: July 2
Biometrics submitted: Nov 25 (From Dubai)

No updates except that the online portal says "Biometrics Complete"

Has anyone received TRV approvals recently?

Has anyone received TRV approvals recently?

You seem to have only submitted biometrics recently. Getting a TRV approval is still going to be quite difficult as the spouse of a PR. I assume you will hear if the TRV is approved in the next few weeks.

That is correct. 4 days ago.

Well I have justified that I don't intend to abuse the TRV and will apply for spousal PR to ensure that my spouse immigrates through the right channels.
We have shown supporting financial and employment documents to show strong ties to home country.
What's with the negativity?

No negativity but coming to Canada and remaining in Canada is not breaking any rules so your argument doesn't guarantee your spouse will only be coming as a temporary visitor. Most spouses of PRs and citizens are denied TRVs. There are certainly some lucky ones who are approved but that is the minority. Also people seem to have interpreted that the travel exception allowing spouses of PRs and citizens to travel meant that all spouses would be able to travel. In reality they still need to qualify for TRVs which is very difficult.

From what I have heard and seen, as long as the officer is convinced of strong ties to home country, there are chances of approval.

There is always a chance but approval rate is probably closer to 5-10%. Strong ties like longterm well paying employment, owning property, having sufficient savings in your name and previous international travel to countries like US, UK, Australia, etc. certainly help. It is pretty clear that most spouses applying have no plans to return home. If you indicated you planned on applying for inland sponsorship in your application the chances would likely decrease. It is very hard and expensive to deport people from Canada so Canada prefers to process spousal sponsorships outland especially in cases where there is not an extensive dating history like having lived together already. Just want you to have realistic expectations. Same thing as expecting more updates other than about biometrics when your spouse just completed her biometrics days ago. This is a slower process.

hey a quick question, when you showed sufficient balance. how much did you calculate for one person in CAD how much are you showing approx in her account in india and did you also showed your own bank account balance in Canada as well? thanks.

My wife got a statement from her Chartered Accountant that summarized her net worth. It included her savings, fixed deposits, property, investments, etc. The total net worth on that statement was around $130,000.

We had applied for this TRV before marriage and on the original application, we only showed close to $10,000 for her visit in the form of bank statements.

After the wedding, we updated the application with this CA statement, employment letter stating a contract until 2022. (Proof that she will return back to her job).

Its Aditya, a Canadian PR. On 31 Dec I submitted my wife's TRV application using a Attorney in Canada. I am appalled by the negativity present regarding applying TRV for spouse. About biometrics - how to submit as VFS india is closed and how will stamping happen?

I am sailing the same boat as you. TRV is the only respite for spouses/family members during these rough times. I have received the biometric letter with absolutely no clue as to when can I schedule biometric appointment. I am also looking for any alternatives that will let me unite with my spouse at the earliest.
