I am currently in Canada on a visitor visa which will expire on 23rd June. My boyfriend and I are about to leave to do a road trip of USA until July. We plan to then do a month around BC, Canada before heading back to the UK in early August.

Im a right in saying that my visitor visa will not reset by just visiting the USA for a few months? If we were to drive over to Mexico and stay there for a few days in May/June would this solve the issue/will I be able to get a new visitor visa when we come back to Canada in July?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks! :)

If and for how long you are allowed back into Canada is always up to the CBSA officer you encounter at the border. Having said that, provided you have a return flight and have proof of this when you return to Canada - you should have no issue being allowed in until early August. Don't bother with the trip to Mexico unless you specifically want to visit there.

Thank you for your help! We do not really want to include Mexico in our trip this time so would rather not. Do you think I should apply for an extension just to make sure?
