Visitor Visa Rejected

Hi There,

Me and my sister are currently residing in Canada since last 7 years. Currently, we both are permanent residents of Canada. I applied for visitors visa for my parents living in India but it was refused stating that they are not convinced my parents will leave Canada after their temporary stay due to their family ties in Canada. Also my parents are retired from work which I already did mentioned in the visa file. I think I got punished for being honest; instead I should have showed they are employed or own a business.

Now, what shall I include in terms of documents or in SOP to convince CIC that my parents will leave Canada after their temporary stay in Canada?

Also should I wait for few days/weeks/months before re-applying?

Thank you in advance.

So you're saying you should have misrepresented their situation in order to get them to Canada?

An SOP will not help if they do not have sufficient strong ties to their home country and are seen as possible overstayers in Canada. You do need to show business ties, property ownership ties, anything to convince immigration that they will have to leave Canada after their temporary visit. What other family ties do they have at home? You need to be honest, not make stuff up.

My parents do rent a house in India (so no ownership of house). They don't have any business anymore as it is sold and no longer on my parent's name. Honestly, they don't have any strong ties which could convince CIC that they would return back. What could I do in this scenario?

Furthermore, I don't want to misrepresent anything as I believe in honesty but if it is not giving me the desired results then what are the options?

It's understandable, but it is always a bad idea to lie to CIC. Do they have a history of previous travel to countries like Canada? Do they have other family back home? Do they have sufficient funds to support their travels and themselves back home? All of this will help with their application. You need to show that they are not dependent on you & your sister, and that they can show a history of not overstaying.
