The following was provided as proof

- I had EAD/AP which allows me to work and travel in and out of USA. I have used this status for the past 7 years.

- I am taking a cruise. Which takes me to Canadian waters for 2 of the 5 nights. My return air tickets and cruise tickets were provided as proof

I submitted employment authorization card / advance parole (EAD/AP) as proof of status. This card allows me to work and travel in and out of USA. I have used this status for the past 7 years.

Apparently, that does not guarantee you admission into the United States. Showing that does not help as you have no rights to enter their country.

An EAD card does not prove valid status. You have to submit the documentation you used to get the EAD card. You must have an I-485 or an I-797 or something similar, right? On what basis did you get this card?

You have two options.. either wait for your status to be adjusted to immigrant aka GC holder or change your status to H1 and then reapply. You really don't have any valid status in US when you enter using advance parole.. US law allows people to stay in US when their adjustment of status is pending, it is like an implied status. Other countries won't acknowledge it and would need a valid status associated with some visa
