Visitor Visa Refused

Hello,

I had recently applied for a Visitor Visa to visit my friend and generally see Canada and my application was refused.

These are the few important points about my application:

My friend is a student in Canada (She gave me a letter of invitation)

I work freelance, I gave my personal account statements but my mother wrote a letter saying she would fund my trip and gave her account statements as well.

I showed that I would be visiting and staying with my friend for 3 months (Is that too long?)

I am planning to reapply right away because I have a confirmed flight ticket in 2 weeks. Can someone please guide and help me with anything specific I'll need to do to ensure I have a good and satisfactory application this time around?


My grounds for refusal were as follows. Though I'm not sure about the first paragraph because the second and third points are what actually seem like the reasons specifically given for my refusal.


Grounds for refusal:



· Based on documentation provided, occupation, overall financial capacities, travel history, ties to his/her country of residency, purpose/justification to travel to Canada. Is the person well established in his/her country of residency.



· I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary resident, as stipulated in paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.



· I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary resident, as stipulated in paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR, based on your travel history.

Things working against you:

• Your friend is a student without Permenent status.
• You are freelance, so you can work anywhere. Limited ties to home country.
• You can’t afford the trip yourself. Your mother is sponsoring you (weak employment and financial means).
• 3 months is way too long. 2-3 weeks at most. Your friend should be in school, not showing you around Canada.
• You don’t seem to have a history of travelling to visa required countries.
• Having confirmed tickets gaurantees nothing. Don’t book tickets until the visa is approved.

Wouldn’t hold out a ton of hope you’ll be approved before your flight.

But isn't there a provision for someone sponsoring your trip?
I'm changing the duration to 3 weeks.
My friend has her semester break on, precisely why she has time to travel around with me. Though maybe I should mention that clearly or ask my friend to mention it in her letter.
I do have a history of traveling to visa required countries. I've traveled to the UK and to several countries in Europe on a Schengen Visa
Yes, I know tickets guarantee nothing, but I though that maybe showing confirmed tickets would indicate that I would return to my country.

Entirely up to the visa officers discretion whether they accept someone else funding your visit. As you don’t seem to be a student, IRCC would probably expect you to have sufficient funds of your own to pay for the trip. Keep in mind, the trip needs to make sense to them. Why do you need to visit Canada for three months when an average Canadian might get a 3 week vacation.

Okay, I've been working freelance for two years now and I also work at farms and help set up agricultural projects. So, are you saying that usually IRCC doesn't think positively of freelancers? Thank you for your insights, they're really helpful.

Do you think getting a letter from the owner of the farm i'm currently working/volunteering at would help? Like a letter of support stating that I've been working and helping set up the farm and that he would need be to be back to my country by a certain period of time.
