Dear All,
kindly excuse me for them long posting here. My mother in law's Online visitor visa was rejected couple of days back. The reason for refusal is below,

Given economic conditions, employment prospects, considering your travel history, economic
establishment and family ties, I am not satisfied that you would respect the terms of your admission
as a temporary resident in Canada.

Here is a small background from my side
1) I am living in Toronto with my wife and kid. we all have PR status. I came to canada on July 2017. My wife and Kid came on Oct 2017.
2) My wife wanted to work so we thought my Mother in law ( MIL) can come here & support us( but we did not reason this in the Visa application.we submitted her application just as an visitor for 2 weeks who will primarily visit our family and also go to few attractions in toronto and also niagara falls).

I provided the below important documents to support the TRV Visa

1) I provided the letter of support showing I will take care of her Food, accommodation and all other living expenses for 2 weeks period
  • · My Bank Statement for the last 4 months.( with funds over 6000 CAD)

    · Paystubs from my Employer for the last 4 months

    · My Employment Letter* indicating my Gross Salary in CAD . My annual sal is around 80,000 CAD

    · My Marriage certificate showing the Proof of Relationship with my Mother-in-Law

    · My Wife’s passport showing her Parent’s details, Thereby showing my relationship with my Mother-in-Law

2) My MIL produced the below documents ( I thought the below documents showed string home ties and she would return home. May be i was wrong)

· Legally Registered documents of her immovable Assets – Dry House Site and a Wet land Property.

· Certified Financial Proof Statement obtained from the Income Tax Auditor (member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India). This document outlines the Total Funds of her Immovable & movable Assets, Bank Balance and Income from the Agricultural activities. The total funds was around 80,000 CAD. The liquid cash was around 4000 CAD.

· Bank Statement for the last 4 months- Indicating Current Account Balance in Savings Account

3) My MIL has a large family back home. She has 6 siblings in India. Her husband, Son and daughter-in-law are living with her in India (.I also thought the large family showed string home ties and she would return home at end of her 2 week stay)

4) Detailed invitation letter from myself and my wife ( her daughter)

5) proof of relationship documents ( passport , marriage certificate, etc)

6) I even produced a short Itinerary document about what we plan to do in 2 week time. Plus the Flight Travel Itinerary for round trip journey (not actual ticket just itinerary ticket)

plus the other forms which you normally submit

I am confused about the refusal . Please help me here. After some close look i found some points

1) May be i applied for my MIL's visitor visa too soon as my wife and kid came here only last October (Oct 2017)

2) I also mentioned her occupation as Farming / agriculture . but put her annual income around only 2000 CAD. ( is it too low, so the officer thought she might find a job and over stay here)

I am planning to get the GCMS notes to find the detailed reasons. what has gone wrong in the Visa application ? Can i re-apply immediately for her? but not sure what more substantial documents to be produced to have better chances of getting approval 2nd time around ? Please provide your thoughts

TRV are based on the visitor's funds so your MIL doesn't have enough savings. Also lacks travel history. You might have a better chance getting a supervisa because it is based on your savings. It will still be a challenge because her lack of travel history but something to consider.

2) My MIL produced the below documents ( I thought the below documents showed string home ties and she would return home. May be i was wrong)

· Legally Registered documents of her immovable Assets – Dry House Site and a Wet land Property.
She must also include property ownership documents + recent property tax receipts + valuation for these properties (self valuation or by a property assessor) + any supporting evidence from property portals/newspapers to confirm the indicative market value of the property.

For the land:
I'm not sure what is 'wet land property'. Did you mean agricultural land or else, wetland (land saturated with water, an ecosystem by itself)? Or is it land which she can construct a house/build a property on?

Certified Financial Proof Statement
obtained from the Income Tax Auditor (member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India). This document outlines the Total Funds of her Immovable & movable Assets, Bank Balance and Income from the Agricultural activities. The total funds was around 80,000 CAD. The liquid cash was around 4000 CAD.
The 'Net Wealth' certificate won't help on it's own. She must include copies of all documents, cross-referenced so it's easy for the visa officer to assess her financial situation.

Bank Statement for the last 4 months- Indicating Current Account Balance in Savings Account
This would be either a current account or a savings account. Which one did she include?

Does she have other financial investments: FDs, RDs, shares, mutual funds, PPF, gold as investment, etc?

Married siblings and/or married children do not help as family ties to return to. That being said, does she have any family commitments or a family event to return to after her visit (with evidence)?

No, that's not one of the reasons why she was refused.

2) I also mentioned her occupation as Farming / agriculture . but put her annual income around only 2000 CAD. ( is it too low, so the officer thought she might find a job and over stay here)
What documents did she include for agricultural land ownership? Any one else who owns the land/does the farm work? Does she actually work on the farms? Form J in her name? How is she paid for the agricultural produce? Does she have any loans for purchasing farm equipment or vehicles? Does she need to return for any farm-related reason? For example, for farming in a particular season?

Hi, I am a Canadian citizen and working fulltime in Canada. My wife is also a citizen and not working due to her pregnancy. I am planning to apply for a visitor visa for my Mother-in-law. My question is who should invite her? Me as a full-time job holder and with bank balance? or my wife as she is a direct family member and has sufficient bank balance? The purpose of her coming in Canada to visit family memeber and grand child. She will stay 3 months in Canada. Please share your thoughts.
