There are two frustrating aspects to the application system.
First you do not dare complain (I am the Canadian, who invited a doctor to come and visit me). If you complain about the length of time required to receive an answer, you know how they will speed up your application process "Denied". So you hardly dare inquire, let alone complain regarding the time requirements.
Second, it is not the length of time for processing, but the length of time, passed what they say it will take to do the processing. I invited a doctor to come and visit, and she initially applied the waiting time was 25 - 35 days. During our waiting period, the time for processing was changed to 35 to 45 days. Checking today I see it is now posted as 35 days. When I inquired (as softly as I dared) I was told that they were backed up - and when I received their response, I counted out the length of time for the applications they were processing and it was actually 52 working days (not counting holidays), while the website stated 35 - 45 days. That is almost 2 weeks past the maximum number of days they had initially advertised. Wow, it is little wonder, everyone seems to be a little confused, tense and frustrated on here.
Here is the basic problem (as I see it), there is not a person on this site that is not willing to wait the assigned time (being reasonable amount) if they know if they will get an answer by then. What the Canadian government does not seem to understand is, people make plans based on the scheduled that they set. It is human nature to do so, and then when those plans continue to fall through and you have no idea what is going on, people (at least I do) become frustrated with the system. In case you are wondering what kind of plans people are trying to make, time away from work for one. Travel arrangements, there may even be some special event that you wanted to see and are required to purchase tickets in advance, and this is just a small idea of the problems that come into play when the review falls behind. Would it be so hard to send an email out to both the person applying and the person that has invited them, stating that the processing time has fallen behind and the expected time line is now ???. Would that not relieve some of the stress of waiting, at least you would not make plans which continue to fall through.
I do not want the government to change their process or procedures, they are there to keep Canadian's safe. And that is the most important thing, isn’t that why we go through all of this? The process is intended to keep the rift raft (or worse) out, but when an application is not going to be reviewed well past the advertized time line, is it too much to ask for someone to send out a couple of emails?
Now having said all of this, I truly hope my doctor friend is refused because of what I have said. If they are refused, I hope it is for the right reasons.
