I'm PR in Canada and had my wedding scheduled for 28th Nov 2021 for which I had applied for my sister's visitor visa.

Unfortunately, the event has already passed by with no decision on the application still

Her timeline is mentioned below:

Application Submitted - Oct 14, 2021
Biometrics - Oct 27 2021
Biometrics completed - October 27, 2021 (shows in CIC Portal updated)
Background Check - We are processing your background check.
Final Decision - Your application is in progress.
Country of Application: India

I submitted 2 webform inquiries as well with wedding event booking documents and religious event details etc but never received any response.

I applied for my parents too just before her and after their biometrics were done they got PPR within 3-5 days.
In my sister's case, I'm not sure why it's taking so long.

I also checked processing time on ircc website and it's showing 45 days.

Any feedback would be much-appreciated guys.

This isn't unusual. Unfortunately we are seeing quite a large number of people waiting longer than the processing time for a result.

There's really nothing you can do but wait. Sending webforms won't speed up processing.

Not unusual. She isn’t your immediate family like your parents are.

I'm sorry I'm not sure what do you mean by immediate family? She is my actual real younger sister by blood i.e. we're siblings from the same parents.
Right she is not your immediate family (spouse, children, parents). She is your extended family member.

Who is an immediate family member

An immediate family member is defined as a

spouse or common-law partner, dependent child (yours, your spouse’s or your common-law partner’s), dependent child of a dependent child, parent or step-parent (yours, your spouse’s or your common-law partner’s), guardian or tutor

Oh okay. I understand...what do you suggest? Should I wait? Or should I withdraw her application.

To make the case strong me and my wife had attached a letter of invitation from both our side along with out bank statements etc and financial status here in canada.

I haven't united with her for over 12 years which was the main reason why I wanted her to be present on my wedding day.

Any advice you would like to give?

At this point, processing is long. I would wait but you can withdraw if you want and reapply. She has to show her own funds, travel history, ties to home country etc. Your financial status and bank statements can be included but may not be considered.

I am also in the same boat. Applied for parents thought IRCC portal thinking everything will be approved in weeks

Application Date: 23-Oct-2021
Biometrics Done: 30-Nov-2021

No updates after that
Portal Says:

  • Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start reviewing your eligibility.

Final decision
  • Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.

Anyone in the same boat ?

Hi, just wondering if there is any luck with your application. I’m in the same boat and my status is similar to yours.
