Thank you so much for the info........I was wondering what the grounds were for applying...I wanted to ask you some question..what's the best way to email you?
My husband's PR application (spouse sponsorship - I am a Canadian citizen) has been in progress since Sept. 2016. We applied for visitor visa for him a few weeks ago and against all odds, it was approved. It is possible. You just need to know how to make a strong application. I used the info on this thread (http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/visitor-visa-granted-wife-of-pr.273759/) as a starting point.

I then did my own thorough research (examining policy/guidance documents intended for the officers making a decision on TRV applications). I was so grateful for the help given to us by this forum that I wanted to do something to help others in our situation waiting to be reunified with their spouse.

This what what we submitted:

1. TRV (IMM5257E)

2. Schedule 1 (IMM5257)

3. Authority to release personal info (IMM5475)

4. Family Info (IMM5645)

5. Proof of Relationship

a. Supporting letter from spouse

b. Citizenship card (of spouse)

c. Passport copy (of spouse)

d. Sponsorship approval letter (of spouse)

e. Marriage certificate

f. Wedding photos

g. Travel photos

h. Correspondence

6. Passport

7. Travel History

a. Police clearance from all countries visited/worked in

b. Passport, work visas and entry/exit stamps

c. Boarding passes

8. Invitation Letter

b. Notice of assessment 2016

c. Void cheque

d. Passport copy

e. Marriage certificate

f. Wedding photos

g. Travel photos

9. Purpose of Travel

b. Travel itinerary

10. Digital Photo

11. Proof of Means of Financial Support

a. Employment contract

b. Employer’s letter

c. Business card

d. Paystubs

e. Bank statements

f. Vehicle ownership/registration papers x 3

g. Employment History

h. Resume

j. Marriage certificate

k. Wedding photos

l. Travel photos

12. Representatives submission letter

13. Business Registration

14. Letter of Explanation

a. National identity card

b. Driver’s license

c. Educational Certificates

*Note, you will notice that we submitted some duplicates of documents. This is fine. You can't over-do it. You can't expect the officers with their limited time to go hunting for documents attached to different parts of your application.

**Also note, his Letter of Explanation was very detailed, very thorough, and addressed all the points they consider. It was nearly 3000 words. The other letters included in this application were all similarly long and detailed.
I feel so good to find this thread. Thank you so much for such a helpful information! I just wonder one thing:
My husband sponsors me inland. I live in Quebec now while waiting for my PR card. My application starts processing since October 2017. I came here by my Visitor visa which is Multiple and lasts until October 2019. Now I would like to visit my good friend who lives in California. So do I need to grand my visitor visa to make sure that I can go back to Canada after my trip?

Thank you so much in advance!

Hi CanadaPR2016,

I have applied for my PR under family class in Jan end from India and still waiting for it. I have thought of applying for tourist visa many times but most of the forums said that it is reject in most cases. When I talk to my agent, she says that my PR will come anytime since it is already 7 months since I applied.
I am confused now whether to apply or no.

Anyway, I would like to get the sample invitation letters and sponsorship letter that your husband sent.

Also, kindly suggest if is it ok to apply for tourist visa now ?

Thanks.

Sorry, I don't understand... he did not give up applying for the TRV. The TRV was what he recently applied for and it was approved within 18 days. His PR is still in progress... it is just taking a long time to process and we wanted to see each other sooner. :) Once his PR is approved, he will cross the US/Canada land border and return to Canada to confirm his "landing" as required for the PR. This is the same procedure that inland applicants follow (who are within Canada already).

Feel free to direct message me if you have more questions. :)
Hi, just wondering if your husband had to get a US visa first before crossing the US/Canada border to confirm his landing. If so, what’s the process for obtaining a Visa? Thanks!

I don't know if anyone has ever gone to there local Member of Parliament and spoke to them. I highly recommend doing it. As well a "good lawyer" helps. People should refer to the "Dual Intent" clauses on the CIC website. In the end it ends up being who's desk your application falls on. I

Member of Parliament - USELESS / waste of time.
Good lawyer - yes that might help for documents.
Dual Intent - yes, we did that in 2nd visitor visa.

Our story:
Applied for Visitor visa after marriage - rejected in ~20 days (Sep 2017)
then applied for sponsorship (within a week after first visitor visa rejected, end of Sep 2017)
after getting Sponsorship AOR (not even sponsorship approval) in Nov applied for 2nd visitor visa, next day after AOR.
LONG WAITING TIME - (every 2 weeks called MP, tried all possible ways)
And we got visitor visa approval in March 2019 (after ~4 months) and then Aug 2019 sponsorship/PR.

So, its all depend on CIC, no "good lawyer" or MP will do any help.
