Hello

I'm Asian student who are studying master course in UK. I would like to travel to Canada during my winter holiday just for a week. Since i cant get an invitation letter, cic told me that i need to write a letter that explains the purpose of my trip. Does any of you guys know how to write this kind of letter and financial support letter from my parents?

Are you a minor? Unless you are a minor (or a dependant) your parents support will not be that helpful. CIC is interested in YOU having the needed resources for travelling.

Anyway, you can write a letter explaining what you are doing duting your vacations. Write an detailed itinerary and explain why Canada and why not any other country (being "your dream" is not a good argument). It is much better that you show a tour itinerary (if you are taking a tour), hotel booking, air tickets, etc. at least show that you have done your research and know what and how yo are going to do what you are saying you want to do.

I'm 24, but i do not work in UK. I'm financially dependent on my parents.
If i show hotel booking and air ticket booking, will it be enough? I do not want to buy ticket before i get visa.

And who pays for your studies? You don't have an scholarship?

You don't need to book or purchase any tickets, just add them to an proposed itinerary so CIC can see that you know exactly what you are going to do. This will add a lot to "purpose of visit".

I dont have any scholarship. My parents pay my tuition fee.
I have US visa (10years), does that help to get Canadian visa?

OK. Then I will recomend the following. Make your parents deposit in your account the money you will be needing for the trip. Then your parents have to send you a letter where they will state that you are their dependant, that they are paying your studies and that they just made a large deposit to your account for the purpose of this trip. Send documentation to support this (financial statement where your allowance is obvious and the deposit they made, and that appears now in your account, is visible).

Make sure CIC has no doubts that you recieve money from your parents on a regular basis and where all the money in your/their account comes from.

It helps.

As summary don't forget to send this:

- Letter of enrollment in your university
- Referal letter from your supervisor stating dates when you are leaving and when you are expected to come back. Add that you are a good responsible student and that you are important to the project/research.
- Copy of your study permit (or whatever it is called).
- Your financial papers.
- Your parents financial papers, letter of explanation and copy of IDs.
- Full itinerary as detailed as possible, including foreseen expenses and budget for carrying those purposes out.

Good luck!

When does your UK student visa expire....CIC seem to not like issuing visas to students where their UK status is short term...anything under 6 months tends to be a concern.

Many thanks for you information. Sorry for bugging you again, I have few things to ask, I hope you dont mind answering

1. Did you applied on-line or paper application?
2. When you said flight booking, does this mean flight reservation or actual ticket that you bought?
3. How long does it took to get visa from the day of application, was there any interview?
