Visitor visa for sister-in-law.

Hi All,

I am applying for visitor visa for my sister in law.She works for a insurance company at entry level job and does not have any savings.(or any property or jewels).

But we are going to book her return flights.

Is the ticket sufficient enough to prove strong ties to India and she will definitely return to her home country ?

You are not advised to book plane tickets when applying for a TRV.
Ties refers to your sister-in laws' job, home, financial assets or family.

Hi,

No, it may result in rejection.

You may include following (as many as possible or all):
1. Job letter: which would say she had applied (& obviously granted) off for xx days & would return to job after these much off's.
2. Parents are there in India, their reference would considered as a strong tie to go back to India.
3. Any vehicle & corresponding auto loan is another plus.
4. Any other loan.
5. If she is enrolled in any higher studies which she would need to resume after going back to India.

A person who does not own any property, is not married or has no relatives in their home country and is unemployed and not a student, proving ties to the home country would be very difficult.

So worried now..

My MIL has super Visa and she planning to travel along with her and she will stay with us for 5 months.While my sister in law got a leave of absence for 5 weeks (Is the leave letter from company sufficient?).My FIL expired previous year (who also had a super visa).

Sister in law has a fixed deposit of 80000rs (1600 CAD).Is that sufficient?

5 weeks is too long and shows her job is not a significant tie. Her funds are insufficient to pay for travel and her anticipated stay. The fact her other family member has a SV will work against her application. I would expect the application will be rejected for family ties to Canada and home country, lack of financees, purpose if travel.

A return ticket can easily be extended or even cancelled. My wife was here on a visitor and then while she was here her pr was finalized. We did a flagpole and she landed as pr and we decided there's no point going back now, so we lost the return leg of the ticket even though we had paid for it. So having a return ticket is in no way proof that someone will definitely return.

I feel the funds showed are on the lower side as well as the ties to home country. She is single so she is not leaving a husband or children behind, her job is entry level and she would be willing to leave it as soon as she finds something better. She does not have any property or savings back home that she would not want to leave behind. Her family is in Canada or can travel to Canada on a super visa easily. .

Do you have any concerns with your MIL travelling alone or do you think she will be fine? If you have language concerns or you think she cannot find her gate, walk the distance in the airport etc....you can request wheelchair service for her. A lot of people do this, the person pushing the wheelchair takes them directly to the correct gate.

Unfortunately that funds are not good enough, I would suggest you shall put at least 8k CAD before you apply for visa in her account.
You can show even 2 weeks of travel for her.

I agree with @Buletruck that your MIL Super Visa would be a negative in this case. However, you can look for alternative options such as other family members. For instance she has fiance or may be her marriage is fixed and she needs to return back India.

Both of us are working here (me and my husband) and we will take care of her expenses for the trip.

Is there a way to show this and get the Visa accepted?

She has no plans of extending her stay here.

Other than providing accommodation, your sister in laws finances will need to show she can afford the trip on her own. IRCC doesn’t take your finances (even if you provide a letter of support) into the equation when they are processing the application. Her ties and finances are weak, assume she has no travel history, has family in Canada and parents with a visa and an entry level job she just started. It’s going to be difficult, to say the least, to get her a TRV.

I wanted to give a tourism trip for my SIL (Niagara Falls, Quebec etc).

But since they are totally dependent on us financially I am unsure to proceed on the visitor Visa application for her now.

Please note that initial visitor Visa for my in laws were rejected and then on applying super Visa we got it issued.

You can add your funds and show that you will cover your SIL costs but that is not legally binding. Suppose worst case scenario you got into a fight and you kicked her out to a hotel, you will not be forced to pay her hotel stay or anything else she does on the trip. (add your funds though, its better than no funds)

Nonetheless if its her first time applying for any type of visa you might as well go ahead and apply with the details you have. Unless you are willing to wait until the day her circumstances approve, like she gets married and has a family back home, gets a better job, gets property etc there is not much else you can do. Just apply, expect the worst and hope for the best.
