Both my husband and me are PRs. We both are working here.

I would like to invite my sister who is in UK (also working there for a couple of months) to help me during child birth and care after that. What are all the documents she has to provide to show stronger ties to UK. She is on temporary basis along with her spouse and daughter in UK and originally from India.

Also I would like to invite my mother in law who is in India to help me with the same.(But her visa application was rejected previous week when applied along with my father in law , for the reason being travel history and insufficient funds).

Should I mention in my invitation letter that I am pregnant and I need their help during my child birth or just send general invitation letter ?

Please suggest !!!

Hi,

I had answered your query about your sister's TRV application in June:

I'm confused, are the in-laws here for visiting or for taking care of your future child?

In your other post, you mentioned they were coming here just to visit, now you're saying they're coming here to help with your baby? Were they actually planning to come here to take care of your baby originally when you mentioned they were coming here just for tourism?

It's not a good idea to mention babysitting or watching your child as a purpose of visit, as it's generally treated as taking a potential job from a Canadian (babysitting/daycare).

Also, if you suddenly change your purpose of visit from tourism to child care, that will likely result in the visitor visa being refused because it's highly suspicious for someone to suddenly change their purpose of visit so dramatically.

Initially for tourism only we applied for both FIL and MIL.Since FIL shows weak ties to India , wanted to bring in my MIL atleast only during my child birth.

Always wanted to bring in my sister to support me during childbirth. She is already employed in UK in IT sector. So her wages are more that daycare/nanny wages.

Atleast for my sister should I mention for support during childbirth ? (More of emotional support than manual help). Please let me know.

@Bryanna

Yes , she got a job in UK.So Should I mention this as stronger ties to UK.Also planning to show around 4000 GBP for expenses. Her duration of stay will be 8 days.

My only clarification is whether I should mention my pregnancy in invitation letter or not.

Hopefully they accept her application !!

Please suggest.

Hi,

I agree with mikeymyke..... changing the purpose of visit from tourism to helping you during the birth of your baby would appear suspicious.

If you mention your MIL and sister are visiting to take care of you/your baby then this could lead to another TRV refusal.... as it shows an intention to work illegally on a TRV even if it is unpaid.

And unless you have hired a nanny (and submit proofs for it), I think the visa officer may not be convinced that your sister is visiting for emotional/moral support during your baby's birth.

You could prepare a day-by-day Itinerary with expense estimates.... purpose of visit could be to meet you and your family, tourism, etc

What's the duration of your MIL's visit? What ties will she show? Does she own the land jointly with your FIL? What finances will she show?

For your sister..... she must provide evidence of her immigration status in the UK + ties to the UK (her husband and if possible other relatives/employment proofs/financial situation/lease agreement, etc) + travel history.

Is your sister temping or is it permanent employment?
Is the GBP 4000 her own money?

Cheers

Hi Bryanna,

As mentioned in the other post , my sis visa got approved and she was present for my daughter's birth.(she is 2 weeks old now). Thanks to your valuable inputs.

We are planning to apply for our MIL with reason as tourism and visiting family. Also my husband will attach a letter of financial support.Duration will be a month with return tickets attached to the application. Also her strong ties will be to go back to India to look after my FIL and SIL. She is a stay at home and does not own any financial assets.

Please suggest.

Hi,

Congratulations on your new baby girl :) It's great your sister got her TRV :)

As your MIL had been refused earlier, you must address the reasons for the refusal.... do revisit this link:
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/rejected-visitor-visa-for-in-laws-t337969.0.html;msg4557915#msg4557915

Does your MIL have a joint bank account with your FIL?
Can your FIL provide financial support?
What documents will she submit to show her ties?

Cheers :)
